I can't think of any other profession where experienced practitioners are quitting and the solution is somehow to try to coax more graduates into comprehensive FM in part by building more med schools. Yet another "I am quitting FM in Ontario" article.. in this case a 20 year seasoned primary care practitioner. https://torontolife.com/city/family-doctor-clinic-closing-burnout-inflation/ Granted she was working in a HCOL location (Mississauga), although it's close to where these new med schools are being built, but some of the highlights are "When I was first building my practice, I made about $90,000 per year, after all our office expenses were accounted for. In 2022, that figure was about $142,000". When the average medical student debt is somewhere around 150-200K, Ontario FM in HCOL locations is becoming unsustainable. Like MedicineLCS noted, this is all about show and not about substance - it sounds good for other universities to have med schools but does almost nothing to fix the underlying issues. What's the point in building more med schools if you're facing accelerating losses? Any rational strategy would involved both retention as well as recruitment. This makes me think of health care in Ontario . -

At the moment, the most important thing is to focus on the road ahead of you - especially the soos. Your thoughts and worries won't change your results on the samps but further practice and studying may help with the soos. It may help your anxiety to acknowledge the uncertainty and also spend a little time thinking of the rudiments of a contingency plan. If it's helpful, even graduates who were unsuccessful on any part of the exam were able to find work settings and successfully retake any part of the CFPC exam whether it be the soo or samp. The CFPC exams are run twice a year so any setback should only be temporary. The CFPC also provides detailed feedback in the case of an unsuccessful attempt. However, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying or planning for the worse as the results are uncertain and you still have important soos in front of you. -

Je connais des gens qui ont été refusés en 2022 après les entrevues malheureusement. -
Ca depend de plusieurs choses. Quelques avantages clairs et net sont la proximité avec le personnel enseignant et la proximité des lieux (minime déplacements). Le reste depend de plusieurs choses dont : - couts reliés - distance avec proches/familles - divertissement, vie social - proximité avec chercheurs, spécialistes - etc.. -

Salut! J'ai été convoqué à une entrevue pour une admission en automne 2024. J'écris dans ce thread en espérant qu'une personne qui a déjà été admise en opto puisse voir mon commentaire. En faite je ne suis pas trop sur de savoir comment me préparer à l'entrevue, donc je me demande si quelqu'un pourrait donner des conseils générales qui l'ont aidé afin de bien réussir l'entrevue. Merci!! -

J'espère ne pas te décourager en te disant ça, mais je me souviens en avoir vu dans les forums précédents (2022 ou 2021 il me semble ? Peut-être que les messages ont été supprimés depuis ?) et certaines personnes de ma cohorte connaissent des gens qui ont été refusés après l'entrevue en 2023. Avoir une entrevue n'est pas nécessairement synonyme d'offre d'admission, mais c'est déjà une réussite en soi et vous avez déjà un bout de chemin de fait en recevant une convocation en entrevue. -
Allo, (disclaimer: je sais pas comment ça marche pour les admissions à Rimouski vu que je suis à St-Hya) Pour ceux qui se demandent : C'est en partie ce genre de question (la question de Julia) qui peut vous être posée pendant l'entrevue pour valider votre intérêt pour la médecine vétérinaire et pour la production animale. L'entrevue sert à déterminer si vous correspondez au profil qu'ils cherchent pour former des vétérinaires en production animale. Ils se basent pas juste sur votre expérience dans les fermes et sur votre intérêt, mais aussi sur vous en tant que personne : vos qualités, vos défauts, votre expérience de vie, etc. Il n'y a pas grand chose que vous pouvez faire pour vous préparer, si ce n'est que de vous remémorer des anecdotes de votre vie en général et de votre expérience dans les fermes. Si vous vous étiez préparés au test casper en listant des anecdotes où vous avez fait preuve de xy qualités, ça pourrait vous aider de le faire aussi pour votre entrevue. À part ça, pour vous aider à déstresser : Si jamais ça vous stresse (moi ça me stressait l'an passé) sachez que c'est pas parce que vous ne venez pas d'une ferme que vous avez moins de chance d'être accepté(e). Dans ma cohorte, je connais 7 personnes qui sont passées par les animaux de la ferme et seulement 2 ont grandi sur des fermes. Le monde qui vous fait passer l'entrevue est super gentil, mais si jamais vous cherchez vos mots, ils ne vous aideront pas à les trouver et ils ne vont pas passer à la prochaine question tant que vous avez pas décidé que votre réponse est complète (sauf s'ils manquent de temps). Ça peut paraître anodin mais ça peut être déstabilisant un peu quand tu passes l'entrevue. Évidemment, dormez bien la veille, faites votre entrevue dans un endroit sans distraction, oubliez pas de respirer et ils vous laissent le temps de réfléchir avant de répondre : prenez ce temps-là pour mettre vos idées en ordre (autrement dit, prenez votre temps en général pendant l'entrevue). Je vous souhaite à tous et à toutes la meilleure des chances et j'espère vous rencontrer l'an prochain !

I have been really beating myself up for leaving quite a few blanks on the exam. I simply ran out of time and didn't follow the advice to just fill it in with guesses. I am really nervous about failing and I cannot shake this feeling. It seems like everyone filled in all the blanks.. I don't know what to do. -

Please help me to decide whether I should go to Marianopolis or Vanier for health Science program for Fall 2024. I would love to go to Mari since most of my friends will go there, but I am scared of Humanity and English courses. I am currently attending good private French high school. My science courses and math are in high 90, but ELA is in mid 80s. I am tempted to go to Maria but afraid those two courses will hurt my R scores. If I attend Vanier, my chance of getting high R scores in sciences are lower comparing to at Mariano, but less likely for me to bomb Humanity and English courses. I am very undecided right now. Please help me. TIA
