  1. My fiancee doesn't have an account on Premed101, but she asked me to post here that she was admitted to UBC MPT off the waitlist at 15:30 today.
  2. My fiancee is waitlisted for UBC PT and I want to coordinate my vacation time with hers (if she gets accepted) -- has UBC announced what the summer vacation dates will be for incoming first-years?
  3. My partner got waitlisted at UBC PT today. Finally, after weeks of waiting ... more waiting!
  4. I tried e-mailing them and calling them; no luck so far. The CBC says that the state of emergency will last through Sunday, and possibly Monday. From the CBC: I guess they can write off a large number of OOP applicants (if they can afford to do that), or they can accept Skype interviews, or they can rank applicants without interviewing them. Or some combination of the above.
  5. My flight to St John's for my Monday interview was cancelled, and all subsequent flights for both airlines were either cancelled or fully booked. I e-mailed them to ask for a Skype interview and haven't heard anything yet!
  6. I got an offer off the waitlist today! I am probably going to turn it down to attend UBC, but it was still nice to hear and I thought I'd share it with you lovely people
  7. I'll piggyback on your comment (slash, give a slightly dissenting opinion): for me, interview practice and feedback from a variety of med students, residents, and docs I know was I think much more valuable than that from other pre-meds.
  8. Waitlisted, which is the best i've ever gotten, but .... now I'm in limbo for a while longer.
  9. Good advice. Hey, if the random vagaries of day-to-day life add unpredictable variance in the legal system, who knows what can happen with med school apps?
  10. You have to get it done before your first day (applicant manual p. 28), cause you start getting clinical experience pretty much right away!
  11. You're welcome! Don't knock yourself out finding verifiers, I think listing yourself as a verifier is allowable for old jobs and they'll contact you if they want some sort of proof (old pay stubs, etc.). I can't give any advice on the RN stuff. As far as the MCAT goes, let me say the grass is always greener. I'd love to have your work experience
  12. I scored an 11 on my VR in 2011, and a 131 in 2015. I used EK + official materials (AAMC + KA [in 2015]) to prep for them both times. In between the two tests I also took tons of humanities courses, to which I attribute my improvement. Correlation or causation? Who knows. I know most people aren't in a position to take tons of hum courses. Even so, picking up an annotated reader in important primary texts in philosophy, history, etc. (if such a thing exists) might exercise your "what is this badly-writing author actually telling me?" muscles. Just thought it might be helpful
  13. Yes, put it in your application. I can think of a few reasons: - You are required to disclose your entire employment history. - You never know what the file reviewer will see in your employment history that will help you. If you think something like bottle depot work is trivial, maybe the file reviewer will think "this is a person who isn't afraid to roll up his/her sleeves and do some honest work." If you think gym membership is trivial, maybe the file reviewer will think "this candidate must know how to deal with people diplomatically." I doubt that anything you put on there could reflect negatively on you unless it was illegal or really questionable, and anything could help! - It gets rid of gaps in your timeline, proving you weren't slacking off and playing Mortal Kombat for months at a time
