  1. I was sitting up by Wendy and Colleen when I heard them say that, they didn't seem to disagree with it but I'd wait for the official stats. Just under 12 would be insane
  2. I think you can still stay optimistic and hope for a change in the prime rate but it may take a little longer than usual due to the suddenness of yesterday's change. TD's statement saying they won't change it is disconcerting though
  3. Definitely a shot! Very strong GPA should make up for below average VR.
  4. Our verbal average was actually 10.99 which I believe is pretty much the same as the year before. The 12 is so hard to get in comparison to the 11 so I can't see it going very high and an 11 should always give you a good shot.
  5. Did we actually meet? I know I've seen you when you're in Hamilton just don't know if we actually had a conversation. Facebook doesn't count Trojjan outed himself at the speeches today to anyone who didn't already know. I'll have to have a proper chat with him at Blue Mountain though. I also read your advice about no light shirts too late, my sweater blends into the background on my photo ID
  6. We'll meet sometime I *think* I spoke to ygella but I don't know if he knows who I am either. If we meet, you'll probably know who I am, maybe Blue Mountain?
  7. Definitely! I was really close to not applying with my stats and I would've really regretted it. All you have to lose is a few hundred dollars which is nothing compared to how much in debt you'll be in at the end of med school anyway.
  8. You're below average on GPA and VR but still worth a shot. I know at least a couple people who were below average in both and got in. Only 1 VR worse than mine and trojjan's stats and we're both here.
  9. Good with a decent to good casper. I know many people with similar GPA and VR who got accepted, myself included.
  10. Exactly the same reason I'm going to keep my TD account open, it's such a small thing but it's so horribly annoying. I've also been a TD customer all my life but went with Scotia for my LOC.
  11. I've already got it nearly fully set up with Scotia, just going in to sign the papers but I was surprised at TD's answer.
  12. Just out of curiosity, how'd you guys fare with TD? They submitted an application at a lowered amount because I was at Mac and it still got declined because I didn't have enough credit history.
  13. Scotia offered me $200k for 3 years of med school and said I'd need to apply if I wanted the extra $60k in residency. Is this normal or do they usually guarantee all 260k upfront? I'm 99.9% sure I won't need the extra amount but figure it's better to be have it just in case.
  14. I wish there was a personal finance course in high school. I took a few years of accounting in high school and then a semester of actuarial science in undergrad so I know how to manage a lot of business math but when it comes to basic things I'm lost. Plan this summer is to figure out everything money-related. I do income taxes for my family every year but need to understand investments, loans, savings and a bunch of other important things.
