At the end of the cycle I had 5 acceptances at Canadian schools, so I'm pretty confident in the strength of my application... Manitoba is one of the few schools that incorporates your MCAT into their scores, so they were one of the few schools I had thought an interview would be a 'sure thing'. Oh well, guess I learned a lesson there!

I also thought I had good scores for Manitoba, but they apparently did not think so. It was 2 years ago, but it still stings to this day...

After reading this story I had to go get some confirmation from some 1T1s/1T0s I know. It sounds like it happened but what you failed to mention was that (at least according to a 1T1), this guy did not attend ANY of his classes (including PBL, DOCH, etc.). So while perhaps failing would be inappropriate given his academic performance, I would still call that a lapse in professionalism.
