I ended up going to a private podiatry clinic. Didn't go well. I thought he would have to remove the nail but he won't. Option 1 (which i did) was to remove the dead skin and then cut the sides of the nail at an angle to free it up from the toe abit (he didn't do that second part because i was freaking out so he stopped after he cleaned out the dead skin) so technically its not complete. And option 2 is to numb my toe and then cut off a big chunk straight down on both sides of the toe, put some type of acid and then burn the root at that spot so that it wont ever grow back that close to the toe. The second option is 325$ for first edge and then 100$ extra for each side you do. So i have a problem with one toe (both sides) and the other toe is only one side.. So it would be 525$ + 45$ local anesthesia = 570$
I wasn't numbed whatsoever. I was hysterical, practically hyperventilating.. I could tell that the doc was thinking "I don't have time for this ****", considering the vast majority of his clients are elders that sit there like logs, lifeless.
I watched this video so I can learn how to cut my nails properly but I don't understand one thing: about 32 seconds into the video, there's a snapshot of a lady getting her toenail clipped with a big one shot clipper. Take note of the way the entire nail is being bent while the person is clipping it like that. I would be able to do my small toes like that but I'd never manage to do that in one shot for the other nails since they don't have that much flex and are rounded.. I hope you understand what I'm explaining.
Also, the way that cut is being made, it would leave pointy edges on the side of the nail after it has been cut. How would that make sense? Wouldn't those edges, even If they're filed down a bit, still hurt when they get caught in your socks or make contact with your neighboring toes?
I've been trying to find videos online that show how to cut nails properly (both feet and hands) but I'm afraid to stumble onto something graphic.
