  1. Hey there, While I am only in my mid 20's and am not raising a family, I can tell you that quite a few of my classmates, male and female, have started a family throughout medical school at UBC. The curriculum and staff are very flexible and accommodating and you should have no challenges in graduating on time. Best of luck.
  2. I am getting many messages, but no one is posting in the thread. For the sake of organization, please leave a post in this thread before messaging me. Thank you.
  3. You sound like a conscientious student. I feel the most important thing is consolidating all of the information for the sake of your patients as opposed to worrying about exams. For example, reviewing cards in Anki on a daily basis outside of exam preparation. As long as you are passing, does it really matter?
  4. I am interested to hear peoples' thoughts on how research will be factored for incoming fourth years given the current situation with COVID-19 and not being allowed to have contact with patients.
  5. I and many classmates did it in the 6 weeks before entering MSI 3 (clerkship). It is definitely doable. I would recommend an Anki deck (brosencephalon or Zanki), First Aid for USMLE, Pathoma, and UWorld as your top resources. Good luck.
  6. Does anyone know why family medicine has so much paperwork? I hear this all the time.
  7. Just a heads up, I am getting quite a few requests. For the sake of organization, post below if you send a message so others have an idea of the wait list. I will get back to you all as soon as I can. Good luck to everyone.
  8. Edit: Congrats for being so self-disciplined.
  9. This was my understanding as well. Our class had many OOP applicants accepted. But it varies based on the strength of IP applicants.
  10. How did the discussion go from being in your 20's to cheating on a partner? As someone in my 20's, I am enjoying every moment of it. Sometimes, I wish I could start working sooner. But I know I will miss these days of (relatively) less responsibility before running a practice.
  11. Based on the posts in this thread, it seems that the patient brings the Botox that they were prescribed from the first visit to the second visit. So the procedure alone is billed $150, not the Botox.
  12. That is good point. Where do they draw the line in monitoring physicians? Freedom of speech and public image have to be balanced.
  13. This is an opportunity to learn and foster more independence. I would view this as a blessing in disguise.
  14. Social comparisons leave us feeling empty on the inside. I know it is easier said than done, but realize that forgiving this guy would leave you better off. Forgiveness is a selfish act that will actually benefit you in this case.
  15. Unfortunately, most schools do not place much weight on the fact that you did engineering, which may be more challenging than other bachelor degrees. Is that your GPA after dropping your worst year / 30 credits? Perhaps dropping those credits would bump it up a bit. Good luck.
