  1. Result: Regrets Time Stamp: 5:25 PM EST cGPA/wGPA: 3.80 Year: 4th year undergrad MCAT: 30 (11 PS/9 VR/10 BS) ECs: Average-strong, filled all 48 spots (5 long-term work commitments, 2 years of research w/posters and pubs, intramural sports, published a novel, work with underprivileged youth, founder/president of multiple clubs, crisis hotline volunteer, academic scholarships, etc) Geography: IP Congratulations to everyone who got an invite!
  2. Does school have services for students with disabilities? Try talking to them about what you've been experiencing- it could be that you have an undiagnosed learning condition or mental health issue. I had this exact problem and spoke to a disability advisor, and long story short, I was diagnosed with a learning disability and got accommodations for tests/exams that allowed me to compensate for the LD, which prevented me from making stupid mistakes (and/or catching and fixing them before I handed in the exam). My GPA went from 3.6 --> 3.9+ after getting the accommodations. Feel free to PM me with any questions about accommodations or the assessment process!
  3. I'm wondering if it's worth it to write the new MCAT and apply this upcoming cycle. I will need a 5th year to finish my degree no matter what (will be starting 4th year this fall), which is fine as I know my GPA is on the low side anyway. Would I have a shot anywhere with a good MCAT and strong reference letters, or would it be better to apply after 4th year? cGPA: 3.64 2yGPA: 3.805 (3.66 and 3.95) U of T GPA: 3.86 I think my ECs are average-decent: musician, long-term employment, previous exec of 2 clubs and current cofounder/president of 2 others, mental health advocacy, hospital volunteering, intramural sports, several awards/scholarships, special olympics, 1700 research hours (2 posters, 2 oral conference presentations, no pubs)
  4. Would anybody be willing to check out my list of ECs? I have them listed in a google doc and I'd really like to get some objective opinions on them.
  5. Yes! Ottawa weighs last 3 years with more emphasis on recent years, Queen and Western take last 2/best 2 respectively, U of T drops some credits if you have taken a full courseload all semesters, strong verbal and CASPer can easily balance a weak cGPA at Mac, and NOSM will give you +0.2 GPA if you have a completed grad degree. Obviously your chances will be better with a higher cGPA but it's not the end of the world if it drops below 3.9.
