  1. Those numbers are pretty reassuring, and I'm grateful you posted these as the FM residents go through the exam SOOs this weekend and next. Both % wise and numbers wise it seems like very few people fail the SOOs or SAMPs. reassuring to the say least just don't wanna be that 4.1% of 3.5% that failed the SAMPs/SOOs
  2. You have to complete a year of postgraduate training before you can apply for the LMCC designation. It used to be that you needed that MCCQE part 1 and 2, but they got rid of part 2 recently. It was quite a lot of money, and just knowing human greed... many people have thought there's likely going to be some sort of replacement test coming in the future. [It is a lot of money on the table...] It still costs a a couple hundred dollars for some reason. Though once you have the designation, you're good. You also need to do it for registering for licensing exams (CFPC or Royal College) All in all, July of your PGY2 year, apply for it.
  3. Honestly, not sure. The exam is kinda vague enough that I don't know how people are scoring either. I felt like it was an exam largely based on can you guess what I'm thinking / answer how you want me to rather than my medical knowledge.
  4. Looks like I wasn't the only one looking up old threads on PreMed101 re: SAMPs and SOOs ... wish I didn't live with anxiety lol
  5. I do not think the public will care at all whether or not family medicine is a 2 or 3 year specialty. Even when you speak to other healthcare workers, most of them don't know the intricate details of length of training for residency; they just know it's quite a lot. The idea that we'll get more paying from FM going to 3 years is laughably bad.
  6. You make some great points friend. Though I do wonder if people are just going to be applying to the US instead for residency instead of going for FM. Or if everything else is just going to be hypercompetitive, IM and peds especially. Or if we're going to have more and more people match into FM and then up quite unhappy, and then finding some sort of niche practice instead of longitudinal FM. I just don't see the 3 year switch benefitting FM at all. Personally, I see FM going through an identity crisis. The current slew of residents will be okay ish, but the coming cohorts ? Going to be an interesting time.
  7. This is going to be an absolute shitshow if they transition FM to 3-years. Might be the death of FM? I know many FM residents who would never have chosen the field if it was 3 years. Sad times ahead
  8. Get the iPad Air with the Apple Education discount. It's a good size, and then you get a $140 gift card you can use towards buying the apple pencil. I liked using an iPad for studying and note taking, but it didn't replace my laptop for me. The iPad Pro has a nicer screen and 120 hz and all that, but it's bigger and not as convenient tbh. Though, this will all depend on your budget.
  9. Hello! I'm just wondering if anyone has an Anki deck they previously made for the CCFP exam? I used pre-made decks in med school which was great for exams, so was hoping to borrow an Anki deck from someone. I did see one from 2020 on Ankiweb, which I may use. Thank you
  10. I wish they made that more clear. Between this and the CMPA, how are they so bad at transitioning us to get our licenses? jeeez.
  11. For CPSO applications, there's a couple things that say "Requirements: Not received or Rejected. " , and all of them say No under the "Required for Registration Committee Review" line, so I haven't uploaded anything... but i got an email from the registration committee that was just initial assessment complete and in that message in the cpso portal, it said to finalize our application, certain credentialing items require action/remain outstanding. Was I suppose to upload things?
  12. I did the CMPA membership thing like last week or the week before (can't remember), haven't been charged yet. Where other people already charged or something?
