  1. Curious what the job prospects, salary and lifestyle of allergy is looking like now?
  2. Do you feel due to this pandemic there will be a shift in job prospects? If so, what specialities will be in demand and which will be less? I would like to have a job once I'm done medical school like everyone else but do get concerned to pursue certain specialities as there may be no guarantee of a job. What are people's thoughts?
  3. Can anyone give information about internal medicine? I'm torn between internal medicine and family medicine and unsure which one I would like. I am partially concerned about the internal medicine lifestyle during residency and potentially after (specialty dependent I know). I have heard the residency is brutal and it has been intimidating me from choosing it. Ideally I want to have a life at home with a family but some internists seem to always be working and even as attendings at time which makes me think that is the norm I would be expected to do. Can anyone shed more light on this for me? Thanks!
  4. They are usually super slow at rolling them out. Someone has been accepted 2 weeks into the school year (2 years ago). So it's honestly a crap shoot as to when it will be but will come eventually
  5. Usually 50/50 for 2nd tier from what has happened in the past! Sometimes runs deep in to the 2nd tier, sometimes it is less.
  6. Doubt it, med schools will still be running at full capacity around the country eventually, just with online lectures and exams. You will get in, I'm 99.9999% sure!
  7. UManitoba planning to go back May 25. Planned for them to finish core rotations and then do electives like the typical timeline.
  8. Just heard from a friend that University of Manitoba students are still expected to continue with clerkship with the caveat of not seeing anyone with COVID-19 symptoms WITH a recent travel history. Thoughts on this?
  9. I was wondering if anyone who is going to the University of Manitoba has got the prime-0.25 and any other perks. I have yet to hear about it in Winnipeg and all the banks I've been asking this about are asking me for proof (I haven't gone to Scotiabank yet, just RBC and CIBC since I've had accounts with them for a long time). I'm not attached to my bank at all, but I for sure want the best deal possible and want to know what to try and get.
  10. Accepted/Waitlisted/Regrets: Accepted In Province (IP)/ Out of Province (OOP): IP GPA (x.xx/4.5): 4.39 MCAT (xxx/528): 518 Rural/Non-Rural: Non-rural Advanced Academics (PhD, pubs, academic appointment): No Accepting Offer/Declining Offer: Accepting 2nd time applying, 2nd interview, 1st acceptance! Felt way better about the interview this time and I bumped my MCAT up a lot which helped. Prepped way more for the interview this year than I did last year.
