  1. Hello everyone, I am currently an independent student at Concordia University. A little bit on my background. I did Social Sciences at a french CEGEP .Later on, I decided to switch for Health Sciences since I started to have an great interest in dentistry, but did not have the high school math prerequisites (TS4/TS5) to be able to do so. Therefore, I decided to make the switch at the university-level and here I am currently taking bio/chem/phys/math courses. I wll be starting my undergraduate degree next year and I have three dental schools on my list: McGill, UdeM and UofT. One thing that worries me a looooot is my CEGEP background and independent student situation. The McGill DMD program requires either a 120-credit undergraduate degree for OOP or a 90-credit undergraduate degree with DEC for IP (I'm IP).Other than that, I am good for UdeM since in very special cases like mine they dont require a DEC but they do want the completion of science prerequisite courses+undergraduate degree and UofT requires a undergraduate degree and other prereqs : biochem, physiology, life sciences, humanities/social sciences taken at university-level. McGill responded me with a very vague email regarding my situation .So I was wondering if anyone here was in a similar situation and was eventually able to gain acceptance into dental school with no DEC but with a Bachelors degree.
  2. Hello, I'm an upcoming 3dr undergrad student wishing to get into dental school and would like some advice on my ECs. -Vice-president of internal affairs of my university's pre-dental club (1 year) -Now co-president of my university's pre-dental club -Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Volunteer -Pharmacy Technician -Founder of a non-profit (medical related) (soon) -Let's talk Science Volunteer -Student note-taker for disabled students at my uni -First responder for my university's Emergency Response Team -University of Texas Southwestern Medical School -Virtual Clinical observation- Emrergency Medicine -No research experience Most of these were started during my first and second year in undergrad and I genuinely enjoyed participating in these ! I also got to meet amazing people there! Do you think I might have a chance with lets say a 3.90 GPA for McGill or UofT? Comparison is the thief of joy but I sometimes compare myself to other people who might have done a lot of research, did posters or got publications.
  3. Hey! For UofT, the average GPA for the 2019 admission was around 3.94/4. The minimum was 3.85/4. Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) | Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto (utoronto.ca) If we convert it to the 4.33 scale, this would be about 4.0/4.33 DDS Grade Conversion Instructions.pdf (utoronto.ca) UofT drops your lowest academic year (sept-aug) if you completed four or more years of study. This is doable since you said that your grades are improving! I'm from Quebec and I too will apply to UofT dent! Also make sure to ace yout DAT and Casper as well! Like others mentionned above, you can shoot your shot at McGill since they also look at your CV. The admission is more hollistic in a sense. Hope it helps!
  4. PAT: Crusher RCT: Bootcamp (this section on the cDAT will give you 50 min to complete it)
  5. The great thing about Crusher is their printable PAT practice sheets. Since the canadian DAT is on paper, it might be better to recreate the 'real environment' of the actual DAT. Just a personal preference
  6. Hi guys, I was on Linkedin the other day looking at dental students' profiles (lol) and I actually noticed that most, if not all of them did an honours bachelors degree before getting into dental school (mostly UofT dent). I'm not an honours student (currently doing a BSc specialization in behavioural neurosciences). Would it be an advantage when appplying to dent? Did people got accepted into dentistry without honours?
