  3. Hi Guys! This is my first time on this forum, so hopefully I put this post in the right place. I am a grade 12 high school student, and after recently getting rejected from Mac Health Sci (unsurprisingly), I've narrowed down my uni options to three different undergrad programs: Laurier Health Sciences, Western Medical Sciences, and Queen's Life Sciences. My high school average is currently 98.5%, and I was wondering which program would be best for helping me reach my goal of becoming a physician. 1) Laurier Health Sci: Pros: Small class sizes, easy to get high GPAs (therefore easier to balance extracurriculars as well), amazing scholarships, good mix of work/parties Cons: Has a lower reputation for American Med Schools (as well as Canadian Jobs if I want to pursue a diff job and not become a doctor) 2) Western Med Sci: Pros: Good % of graduates entering med school, good student life, a lot of options to narrow down your studies to a specific field in 3rd and 4th years Cons: 1st and 2nd years are tough (therefore less ECs too), massive campus 3 Queens Life Sci: Pros: Similar to Western Med Sci, the program seems a bit easier though Cons: May be harder to achieve marks compared to schools like Laurier Right now, I am leaning toward accepting Laurier due to the higher marks, but I am wondering if there is anything else that I should consider when making my decision and would love to hear your guys' opinions on these three programs! Thanks so much!

  7. Hey guys! Hope you're all doing well I'd really appreciate some perspectives on my chances at Western and Queens specifically! MCAT: 514 (127/127/128/132) 2YGPA: 3.87 Thanks in advance!!
  8. Hey guys - just realized I may have screwed my chances at medical school. I applied to queens and western. My third and fourth years are the 3.88 and 3.87 respectively. I did a fifth year in 2020 and took three courses, which was my biggest, dumbest mistake because I ended up with a calculated 3.5 gpa here. I am terrified Queens will take this year and my fourth year as my last two, leaving me at a 3.68 gpa. Have I screwed myself over?
  9. Hey guys, congrats to those who have finished the application process! I know this is a super redundant post, but if anyone could tell me what my chances are looking like, I would really, really appreciate it... if I'm headed for rejections, I hope to be able to prepare myself for them. MCAT is 514: 127/127/128/132 2YGPA: 3.88 (cumulative is 3.61) My extracurriculars are strong - awards, president of large non profit, accessibility research, etc. I've applied to Western, Queens and Mac... any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
  10. I am looking to choose a program between these offers. My end goal is med school, but i want a university where it’ll be easy to achieve that goal and gpa without becoming depressed and drained from studying 24/7. I would also like a good atmosphere and one that is welcoming to diverse students as i am a POC. Which program is best suited for me?

  13. Hey all! I was curious if anyone currently enrolled in the PT program at Queen's University might be willing to share their personal experience as a student there, specifically including how/if the Probationary Accreditation status of the program has affected your experience? I'm currently finishing my undergrad at Dal and hoping to begin a PT program next fall (Western and Dal being my top choices, Queen's holding up the third spot). I have several close friends who have completed degrees at Queen's and have heard nothing but good things about the school and city, however the accreditation status at Queen's seems to be a red flag. It seems like the school is very transparent about it, which I take to be a good sign, but I'd be interested to hear how the students themselves view the whole thing. All the best
  14. Hi All, I was looking into Queen's PT program and saw that their accreditation status is probationary. Can anyone clarify what this means and how it will affect newly admitted students this year? Also, I'd love to hear what your experience at Queen's was like. What is their teaching method like? How's the faculty and housing? What about placements- do you feel you gained a wide variety of experiences or was it mostly in a clinical setting? I look forward to hearing your thoughts!!
