VCU completely exceeded my expectations. The students, faculty, and administration were all super friendly. The resources available to the students are outstanding and their Step One scores are excellent. And they have one of the largest hospitals in the nation.

 

But perhaps I may be a little biased now ....

I'm excited about VCU, but I think it may be too early in the season to "commit" (although I did give them $100 to secure my spot ....)

 

The VCU interview is very low-stress and conversational. To prepare I looked over my AMCAS essay, activities, etc and read the interview feedback on SDN. My only tip would be to prepare some interesting stories to tell in response to all the typical interview questions - the interview is ONE HOUR long so be prepared to have lots to say!

 

To all the other applicants ... keep at it! I applied 3 or 4 times to OMSAS (I've lost track) so this acceptance feels sweet but it has been a LONG journey.

Hopefully, they'll review our files again in spring.

I actually met a lot of med students at CW who got there off the waitlist.

So although they're probably a small fraction of all the people put on hold post-interview, there's still some chance.

I'm going to write them some beautiful letters.
