Hi all,

Here's a quick questionnaire regarding the admissions process at Alberta. We ran this questionnaire last year, and I'd like to keep it going on an annual basis so we can generate some profiles of applicants who have been accepted, rejected, or placed on a waitlist for each school. If you are applying this year, please take a few minutes to fill out the below questions. :)

Please keep all replies focussed as answers to the below; I will delete any non-answers in this thread. If you have any questions, please start a new thread so that this one stays on topic. Please check out the big thread in the General Premed Forum as well to let us know which schools accepted you, and which ones waitlisted you or rejected you: pub125.ezboard.com/fpremed101frm0.showMessage?topicID=648.topic

If you can copy and paste the below form, and fill it out, that'd be awesome. If you want to contribute your GPA and MCAT stats in addition, that's great too. :)

------

I'm a (Province) resident in (undergraduate or graduate) studies. My GPA was (XYZ) and my MCAT scores were:

Physical Sciences: (x)

Verbal: (y)

Biological Sciences: (z)

Written Sample: (z)

I was (accepted/rejected/waitlisted) by Alberta. This is my (first/second/third/more than third) time applying to this school.

Of all the schools I applied to, I'd like to attend (XYZ Med School) as my first choice.

------

Ian

I'm a Manitoba resident who just completed undergraduate studies.

I was offered a place on the alternate list by Alberta but will be turning down the spot. This was my 1st time applying to this school.

Of all the schools I applied to, I will be attending the University of Manitoba as my first choice. (The U of A was a very close second.)

Pre-req gpa: ~8.5

Best 3 of 4 years: ~8.5

MCAT average: 11.7

I'm an Alberta Resident who completed an undergraduate degree (Bsc Honors).

I was rejected by U of A; this was my first time applying. I think that it was my first choice, and I'm pretty sure it still is!

Pre-req and gpa (best 3 of 4 years) were both about 3.9

MCAT = 8B-9V-10P-R

Wowsers... I just came across this website by accident... I was actually searching for housing information and the search engine directed me here (cool site btw)... anyway... :D

I'm an Alberta resident. I just completed my third year of undergraduate studies. I was headed towards a degree in biochemistry (honours).

I was accepted by Alberta. This is my second time applying to this school.

My GPA is 3.9+

My MCAT scores are 35+, N (yeah, I know the N sucks... :eek )

I'm an Alberta resident who just finished undergrad in Quebec.

I have applied twice, been waitlisted twice, and accepted off the waitlist the second time.

UA is my first choice whoopee!

My 4yr GPA is a modest 3.79 (looking at all the 3.9s around this place). My MCATs were 9V, 13B, 13P, Q (yep, the distribution really screwed me for some Ontario med interviews!)

Hi everyone

I am an in-province resident who finished undergraduate studies in May 2002 (BScH in Biology). GPA ~3.9. MCAT 27R

I was accepted by U of A. This was my second time applying. I received interviews both years, but was rejected without waitlisting last year.

Of all my choices (interviews at UBC, UofO, UofA, no interview at UofC), U of A is my top choice. See you in the fall!!!

I'm originally a BC resident (but I did both my undergraduate and graduate studies at University of Calgary). My GPA was 3.85 in undergrad (I don't know the conversion to UofA scale), and 3.90 in my course based masters program and my MCAT scores were:

Physical Sciences: (11)

Verbal: (9)

Biological Sciences: (11)

Written Sample: (M)

I was accepted by University of Alberta. This is my second time applying to this school.

I only applied to U of A so I guess this was my first choice.

I'm an Alberta resident in graduate studies. My GPA was 8.03 (prereq 8.5) and my MCAT scores were:

Physical Sciences: 11

Verbal: 11

Don't remember WS but it was the second highest letter possible and irrelevant for Alberta for this year, anyways.

I was rejected by Alberta. This is my first time applying to this school.

Of all the schools I applied to, I'd like to attend Alberta as my first choice.

PS: I strongly recommend anyone who gets rejected to talk with Marlene. She was so helpful to me and gave me lots of hope for next year!

I have been wait-listed at the U of A (well placed on the Alternare Candidate List, I love the euphanisms). Here are my stats

Pre-Req 3.8 something

Over-All 3.6 something

MCAT 9V, 11PS, 12BS, R WS.

Good luck to all on the wait-list. Congrats to those who have been accepted, and if you were rejected post-interview I was in the same boat last year so there is hope!

-pjdavis

P.S(Edit)- Glad to say I was finally offered admission on the 6th of July, 2004 at 11:15 a.m. WOHOOO:rollin
