iluvexcel
Hey I'm a first year student this year, and I want to get involved and volunteer in a research position next academic year (2016-2017). When should I start contacting profs and PIs for positions? Thanks!
AntiSWOMEN
You probably should have started contacting supervisors already, I know most people start in January or even before the new year. Some deadlines may have already passed but I would still try. edit: misread as summer research You would probably be fine contacting profs in August/beginning of the year, at least this is what I did. I think that jan only applies for 4th year thesis students, anywhere I've heard of Most people will contact profs in Sept., so anywhere from August on and you'll be more than fine in my experience
