cmclea
Hi Guys I am set to defend my Master's thesis next week but this will not appear on my transcript as "complete" until convocation in the fall. I know for other schools it states that as long as you have proof of a successful defense by June 30th then you are in the clear but for Ottawa it just states that they need your final transcript. I guess I am just curious whether this means the degree has to be conferred on the transcript before June 30th OR (because the degree was not used in the selection process) does it even matter at all? Thank you!
Bambi
Why not call adcoms for clarification, explaining your specific situation.
cmclea
Thanks Bambi, I called a few times and they responded via email right after I posted on here. They said they would like my transcripts by June 30th regardless of whether it states "degree conferred" or not haha
laemelli
I talked to Chantal at my interview and she informed me that you just need to have defended/completed your masters degree before September
heartdoc
Is anyone else able to chime in on this? I didn't think there was any requirement for graduate students to complete/defend before matriculation, and I can't find anything on the website suggests this. From the FAQ section: Q: Do you give special consideration to graduate students? A: Graduate students must meet the total eligibility requirements as undergraduate applicants. These applications will be assessed like all other applications based on the candidate’s academic work during the undergraduate studies, CASPerTM, autobiographical sketch and interview performance. Seems unlikely to me that there's an unstated requirement, or that acceptances would be conditional upon completion of the graduate program. snazij
So if you are doing a 2 year masters, you cannot apply during your first year? I had the same question actually! Does anyone know?
Donald_Duck
You can apply! You would have to simply drop your graduate studies midway. I do not believe they will differ for reasons to complete graduate studies. I need someone else to back me up on this though I am not 100% sure Mr Duck
