How favourable are research assistant positions in comparison to a fellowship or senior thesis, when it comes to med school applications?

 

I will be doing a thesis in my fourth year, but seeing the amount of people who are getting summer fellowships and publications is incredible. After all of the applications I've filled out, all I've got under my belt is a job where I mostly cleaned, and a job where I do DNA extraction/PCR/purification for a grad student. Is it going to hurt my chances of acceptance?
