Lacking In Awards/accoplishments

I'm not applying this year, but will be in 2 years time.

 

What type of awards/accomplishments are they looking for here? 

 

So far all I have is sports/martial art medals and places (some 2nd places and some first)...are these sorts of accomplishments enough? I don't have any "volunteer of the year" awards or massive research grants.

 

Anyone have any examples of their accomplishments/awards that they put down?

NSERC good example

Other undergrad research awards (local, provincial, federal)

that section also takes publications (peer-reviewed journals or posters). your medals would fit as well

I talked to a few and having an NSERC is huge. 

 

Any idea on how medals in sport competitions stacks up against papers/research grants? I won't be able to apply for any research until I finish year but I want to strive to try to fill in atleast some of this category.

 

Do you or anyone else have any other examples of awards/accomplishments besides research/publishing? Maybe something a little 'lower tier' just so I can work on that before i get into research?

Scholarships, dean's list, faculty medals, academic awards are all some you can include as well
