Neurd
I was wondering if there are any M.Sc, PhD Medical Physics students OR Medical Physicists here? I am currently doing a Biology and Physics dual honours and I was curious about the job market and how in demand the profession is?
ralk
Not one, but was heavily considering that pathway earlier on in my schooling. Job market has tightened quite a bit recently - before an MSc was all that was necessary to land a job at many centres, these days you'd need a full PhD. There was a small number of positons available back when I was looking at it, though that was a while ago. It's a smaller field, so it is subject to ups and downs in the job market - I'm not sure exactly where things stand these days. Medical Physics MScs/PhDs often have positions available in industry though, particularly if they have programming experience, so there is some flexibility in the pathway if you stay flexible and maintain your marketability. ralk
Jobs in industry? Can you elaborate? Medical imaging suppliers, for example, need medical physicists on their end for design/development/quality assurance.
