To Apply Or Not To Apply

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a GPA of 3.67/4.00 based on 4 years (not including summer school) and 510 MCAT with 127 in CARS.

Is it even worth applying as an OOP?

I have filled out the application and sent my transcript, but I just feel very discouraged to hit that submit before tomorrow :/

Advice?

Last year, as an OOP student, if you had an MCAT score in the top 97 percentile or higher (greater than or equal to 518) you automatically received an interview. If you had an MCAT score in the 96 percentile (517) you were placed on the wait list for interview. Decisions on granting interviews for OOP students were 100% based on your MCAT score (your undergrad GPA was NOT factored in).

Since you have an MCAT score in the 83rd percentile, I would say your chances are quite slim. Again, as stated before, if money isn't an issue go ahead and apply. If you are looking for only "best chance" applications, I would skip U of S.

  Good luck !
