The 3/5 Level Rule And Alternative Course Numbering

Recommended Posts

First of all, I hope that everyone is doing great on their finals/holidays/crazy end of 2016.

Now to my issue. The website is pretty straightforward but the thing is the course numbering at my school is unusual and all the courses in my program are the same "level". Basically, all my program requirements are leveled 4000 (which following my school numbering logic would make them 3rd year level courses at other schools) while only 5 courses in my junior-senior years would be leveled 5000. How do AdCom make sense of all of this??? Other than one exception, my transcript is exclusively 4000 level courses from freshman to first senior year term…

Best to email them and ask directly.

Yeah I would agree - that program sounds confusing and unusual from their rule point of view. the good news if you are following a typical degree progression at your school for that program then very likely you will meet their rules. I have never found them to be unreasonable with respect to things like that.
