New Ek101 Vs. Kaplan For Cars

Unlike Kaplan CARS, I scored like 80%.

What do you mean by this sentence? I am not sure if I understand it.

I consistently scored 80+% in Kaplan CARS and got around 80-90% in EK101 CARS.  I believe you have to understand sentence structures to do well on CARS, as well as develop an appreciation for the purpose of the passage.

Is English your second language? If so, then I would recommend that you do a lot of reading. At the beginning, read each paragraph slowly and write down the purpose of the paragraph. As you develop your reading skills ( 1-2 months of practice), you may no longer need to do that.

Best of Luck !!

Hello gentlemen, I second End Poverty on most of the comments. Practice, practice and practice! There is no shortcut here. Read whatever you get your hands on.....newspapers, magazines, online articles, etc. All these things will help you become a more efficient reader and improve your reading speed.

I am using the Princeton Review CARS book and some days I nail down the passages really well and other days not so well. Just keep practicing and kepp learning from your mistakes. Spend some time on the questions you got wrong and try understanding how the correct answer is justified. When I started CARS a few months ago, I was getting 30-40% only (pretty bad); however, with continued practice I have improved to 60-70% and still improving.

On a side note, English is my third language so if I can do it anyone can do it. Good luck! :)

If you're talking about the new EK101 CARS book versus the old EK101 verbal reasoning book, don't worry-- the new one is A LOT harder; it's probably the hardest and also the most ridiculous CARS resource on the market right now. So don't feel bad with poor scores with this book! Keep practicing with the book, but take all the scores with a grain of salt. I would only take scores from one source seriously, and that's how you do on any AAMC CARS resources (the AAMC 2 CARS qpacks and the CARS sections on the three AAMC full-lengths currently out).
