unkn0wnfutur3
Hey guys, I'm a 4th year student at McMaster uni and was wondering what my chances at ontario med schools might be1st year gpa: 3.88 (9 courses)2nd year gpa: 3.88 (9 courses)3rd year gpa: 3.94 (10 courses)4th year gpa: 4.00 (halfway through the semester, aimming for 10 courses)I have 3 years of volunteering with an organization, student president of 2 clubs, executive of multiple clubs, research experience/poster awards, volunteered at a hospital, volunteered abroad, many awards and scholarships, intramural sports, McMaster dragonboat team, article publication (not scientific). I'm planning to do a 5th year because I have no clue if I have a chance at med school. I will also be writing MCAT this summer. Please HONESTLY weigh in on my chances.. That's a bit of relief. Thought I had no chance at all. All my activities relate to my interest one way or another I was so worried because I saw all these people with 3.99 cGPA, multiplie publications, xxx hours of volunteering/shadowing, and staggering MCAT scores, etc lol
Galaxsci
Yeah your GPA looks solid! I'm not sure how it'll go with the first two years not being a full course load (you won't get weighting at U of T and possibly some other things at other schools), but everything looks good! You'll have a decent shot next year IMO as long as the mcat is good.

unkn0wnfutur3
agreed 100% sometimes I'm completely convinced its a troll and people fall for it like c'moon this person claims to have a 3.95+ GPA and thinks they need to do a 5th year. Either they are trolling or humble braggi wait what.. Sorry if I came off like that but firstly, my cGPA is NOT 3.95 + if you actually calculated my 4 years. Secondly, I also did not take full course load in my first 2 years and that limits the # of institutes I can apply to. And lastly, I'm considering doing a 5th year because I didn't take english courses (pre-req) and that also limits # of institutes I can apply to. This isn't a troll post, I was genuinely asking for honest inputs. You seem salty for no known reason whatsoever..
Meridian
You do not need English to apply everywhere. Don't take a full 5th year just for that credit. You could easily damage your GPA by mistake, English courses are not objective like a science course. You could easily run intoa prof that sees an 80 as a high mark. Take the English credits online or summer school (if you really need them). You do not need the full course load in yr 1 & yr 2, At some schools, it just restricted you from throwing out some credits to improve your cGPA. Your existing GPA is stellar and sufficient so unnecessary to boost it. Study hard and write the MCAT early to mid summer 2017. __ P.S. Your post does look like a troll to many people.
