MSWschnoodle
Hi everyone, Quick question, I did not graduate from a high school, because I was home schooled by my parents from grades 10-12. The home schooling system was not certified by the province and therefor on paper it looks like I never completed my high school education. I am wondering if this will hinder my acceptance into med school? Do med schools look to see if you have graduated from high school? Do they require a high school transcript? Or are they only taking your university transcripts? Your application might ask you where you went to high school, but you could likely either list Homeschooled or list the school group through which you did your homeschooling depending on what your scenario is. As Bambi pointed out, your undergraduate grades are what medical schools use in the application process so being homeschooled really shouldn't hold you back. One thing to consider is the transition/adjustment back into a larger structured system of learning... depending on how your homeschooling looked this might be a big change in style or it might feel very natural. University is an adjustment for most new undergraduates, so don't be afraid to visit the learning services office at your university if you need them - learner services are included in your tuition so if they have something useful to offer take advantage of the services you have paid for :-) Good luck and enjoy university! It's funny that you say this, because I was never homeschooled in my life, but now that I attend university, I feel like I am homeschooled. I barely go to classes since most of then are recorded (and for me, it is much more efficient to watch the recordings than to attend lecture). However, it is true that university is an adjustment, the workload (quantity of information/time) is much greater!
