Post-Interview Weighting?

Recommended Posts

I thought they changed the weighing and that everything was taken into consideration now? Would also be interested in the answer to this.

I don't believe it's explicitly stated anywhere but I was under the impression that admission at this point will be 100% based on your interview as referenced by their 'sequential steps' method of evaluation.

From the website:

How much emphasis is placed on academic and how much on extracurricular activities?

Applicants are assessed in sequential steps.  The first steps are based on academic requirements - the GPA and MCAT scores.  Applicants who successfully make these cuts are invited for an interview and their academic marks are no longer considered in the admission process.  Those applicants are then assessed based on personal experiences and personal characteristics through an interview.

But this isn't right though anyway- we know that ABS is used pre-interview, implying a change to above. I guess the question now would be is the ABS/LORs used post-interview?

Their own website is lying about their admissions process??

Not lying, just outdated. It used to be like this- if your GPA and MCAT was above cutoffs you'd be interviewed. Then around 2013 or something it was changed likely due to the # of applicants meeting these cutoffs were getting too high to feasibly interview. Now ABS is used pre-interview as evidenced by the number of applicants with both a high MCAT and high GPA that were and are rejected pre-interview.

Yeah I have heard the same from a friend. It is very insidious of them to not update their website but continue with such practices. I would understand it if they took down the information (Queens is reputable for their lack of transparency, something that they have insufficiently justified) but they literally have it up for everyone to see and take away from.
