lost__in__space
Hello friends! Is anyone here from UBC general surgery or urology? These two programs are on my radar for when I do CaRMS and I would love to talk to current residents about what their programs are like.
NLengr
I am not affiliated with either program but I do know UBC Uro has had 2 or 3 residents switch out over the past 5 years or so. In a specialty as small as uro where a program only might have 10-15 residents in total this is concerning and COULD be a potential flag for program issues. That being said, it could also just be bad luck/random chance and not be due to program issues. However, if I was doing an elective there I'd be super alert as to potential problems with the program. betruetoyourdreams
just as a note, i know one of the residents who switched out loved the program and the speciality but decided he wanted to prioritize his extra curricular hobbies and life so switched into family. he did say the 5 am mornings and busyness was a big reason for making that decision, but i feel most programs work you that hard anyway
