puddin'pop
Hi guys! I had a few questions about the MPI format at UofT. I am aware that each station will last for ~10 mins, does this mean that there will be 10 mins per question or does each station have multiple questions? If it's the latter, how long would you guys typically spend on a "why medicine" question? I typically find myself talking for around 4 mins for every question, however, ethical questions typically take me longer since I usually go over the point of view of each side then give my opinion. Am I taking too long?
S. pneumoniae
Shoot, I'm usually at around 7 minutes for "why medicine" (but at a nice slow, conversational pace building up a story and not just listing things off) -- is that too long? EDIT: just timed myself and it's actually about 5 minutes! So I'm pretty close to your 4 minute answer.
robclem21
No answer is too long or too short if you answer the question. It is too long if you ramble and too short if you don't make your point. Focus more on the quality of your answer vs. how long it is. There are usually multiple questions for each station, but the interviewer will not expect to have the same process for each candidate. If your response is short, they will ask you more questions, if you don't then they won't. At the end of the day, your ability to get through the prompts isn't what is evaluated. What's important is the quality of the answer you provide and your ability to connect with the interviewer.
