neuro9
If any of you are following the "NB Docs" page on Facebook, there was a post a few weeks ago that makes it sound as though they're increasing the number of seats at Dal Med NB. I've copied and pasted the post below. Does anyone know anything about this? Am I interpreting it correctly? "We are pleased to see the Government of New Brunswick has prioritized health care in the new Provincial Budget for the upcoming year, and recognize the significance of the Canada-New Brunswick Health Accord in this. Specifically, we are pleased to see measures that will improve nursing homes in the province and increase the number of beds – both of which are extremely important in the country’s oldest province. We are also pleased to see the government plans to add six additional positions to train new doctors through Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, which will help improve the situation of those New Brunswickers still without a family doctor and will improve recruitment of specialists and access to specialist care. In addition, we welcome the news that the government plans to improve mental health care in the province, and plans to expand the vaccination program for the human papilloma virus to include boys." keffiyeh
I would have interpreted this as more seats for residency, not medical students, since they say to train "new doctors" but you never know! I also feel like this only may take place in 2017-2018, not for 2016-2017. We'll find out soon though... best of luck
keffiyeh
Actually, I don't know if they have residency seats in NB... so maybe, yeah!
neuro9
Yeah I was thinking it'd probably be 2017-2018 or 2018-2019, but interesting! Hard to tell for sure if they're adding to the existing 30 seats or investing in residency spots!
