What To Do For A Year After Undergrad?

Locke

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am finishing up my second undergrad degree (screwed up big time on my first one, doing much better on my second) and I will be applying next year. But since I will be done undergrad, I was hoping someone could give suggestions for a one year Masters program (also open to other options).

Thanks,
Locke

Make up some excuse to travel so that you don't look like a fool on the resume

e.g. I am doing some random volunteer work in Africa but in reality I'm just hanging out at the beach with random dudes that I'm volunteering for.

e.g. I am doing some random internship in South America but in reality i'm climbing mountains.

Come interview time, your resume is padded and you can talk about your 'volunteer' and 'work' experiences and how much fun you had.

One-year masters are like biostatistics, some MPHs, anatomy master's at UWO, research Master's (working hard, you can finish in 18 mths if you start early). Biostats would be cool if you're ever interested in doing epidemiological research.

If you're going to travel, you don't have to make up an excuse. After two degrees, you are allowed to want to get away for a little bit. I think most people would be fine with that and wanting to travel for the sake of travelling will not make you look like a fool. That's just ridiculous. In fact, most people see right through "voluntourism" and it really does not have the impact it used to on a resume.
