dontfeeltheburn
I'm in the middle of my radiology residency and I'm wondering about community jobs in the future. What are the main advantages/ disadvantages of clinic vs. hospital jobs? Are there significant discrepancies in vacation/ pay etc? We're always exposed to hospital radiology in residency and I've been shy about asking about the details of the different job types. Obviously, there will be variation from job to job, but I'm mainly looking for general trends. Any insight would be much appreciated.
Lactic Folly
I don't have much experience with clinic-only positions - some new grads do take them, but I think most would like to keep up CT/MRI skills in the hospital setting. I am most familiar with hospital-based groups who also do clinic work. I think work scheduling and compensation would be negotiated between you and the clinic owner (if not owned by the radiologists). Lifestyle would be better (no call), but I am not sure if one might be more vulnerable to changes in the contract or business - again no direct experience.
