Casper Weight For U Of A

Recommended Posts

Purely speculation here, but since they only made those who were invited for an interview complete casper, they may simply look at how the casper scores compare to interview scores.

CASPer, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't actually be validated by any external source. McMaster even owns shares in the CASPer company. So it may be possible that UofA is doing their own research in the the validity of the CASPer exam.

So with that being said, I am guessing that it is possible that UofA will see if CASPer scores would have accurately predicted admissions by completing the admission process the same as all past years and comparing scores after making admission decisions.

Or maybe this is just my wishful thinking!

I've heard rumors from friends who know med students at the U of A that say that CASPer may not even be counted for anything in the interview, as its the pilot year, and so they just to test it out.

I think this is the most likely scenario(or most realistic wishful thinking). Since this application cycle IMO has been a little weird in that they didn't seem to care so much about having a 4.0 GPA or 520 MCAT(slightly exaggerated), judging by the interviews/regret thread, and this is the last year that they'll allow people without a degree to apply.

Also, out of curiosity, would doing something like this(CASPer being weighted) be against policy?

Cause I know in one of my classes, I had a prof switch halfway through the semester, and she wanted to change something in the curriculum, but couldn't cause it would be against the syllabus of the class we took.

Would it be a similar kind of case here? When we applied for the school we didn't know about the online portion, which they included after the applications.

Just a point for discussion.
