Sample Time Table?

Hi,

I was just wondering what the average timetable for a premed student looks like for actual classes in terms of taken in the university

I ask because I'm considering my options and while one of my options requires 3 hours of commute in total if the scheduling of programs is fairly reasonable it would be worth attending.

In terms of programs, I'm asking about Biology/Life Science programs (specifically Biomedical Science @ York and Ryerson)

Any help is appreciated

Thanks!

It can be highly variable even within the same university depending on your major/what courses you are taking. 3 hours of commuting per day sounds like a lot though. I would highly recommend staying on residence or commuting somewhere closer because that's going to eat a lot of your time (however I realize some people are able to be productive somehow during train rides, don't know if that's you though).

Yeah as mentioned I'm not sure how helpful we can be; even within the same program, it varies a lot between years and even semesters!

I'm a Guelph Biomed and this was my schedule last year (3rd year) during the peak of the semester (Weeks 4-6 for us):

- I had 2 back-to-back midterms on Monday the following week (hence the Weekend was sacrificed).

- Besides academic responsibilities, there is also health, social, EC's, volunteering, and work which you may need to take into account.

Here is what this current week looks like for me (currently in 4th year):

- It's a lot more chill because doing a research project allows me to control my hours.

- There's more free time so I use that for sports/social life (my friends keep pulling the "c'mon dude it's our last semester" card on me)

- Yes, I have a midterm/presentation, but the only thing I'm really taking seriously is prepping for my interview this weekend (senioritis ha)

- Yes, I'm currently stuffed as I type this because I definitely got my money's worth at all-you-can-eat Sushi tonight (4 rounds + 2 rounds of dessert). Go hard or Go Home!!!

Hope this helps!

holy crap. I am impressed. I never used a paper agenda, nor do I note down stuff on paper, nor did I ever plan things ahead so well. I basically wake up the morning and only then think about what I want to do during the day. You seem so organized and efficient and on top of your things. Props.

And gym at 7 AM every day? You rock. keep it up. No sarcasm intended.

I do a "mind dump" every Sunday afternoon/evening, which just means getting everything that I need to do (that I can think of) out of my head and on to a piece of paper. Then I just start adding these things to my calendar based on priority. It works amazingly because keeping track of everything mentally is super unreliable (I found this out the hard way aha)

It's important to note that I don't actually stick to that schedule 100%, although I'm usually pretty close. It's more of a rough outline of what my week will look like.

The beauty of a digital calendar/planner is that:

- reoccurring events (i.e. classes, meetings) are a breeze, you just add them all with a few clicks at the beginning of the semester.

- notifications to remind you about stuff.

- It's pretty af

And the gym is more a necessity aha, I started working out in the morning during first year and since then I've become addicted. I literally have withdrawal symptoms if I don't work out (i.e. my brain doesn't turn on until I start exercising).

I liked how you laid out the schedule and appreciate the sample you provided, what program are you using for this because a schedule would definitely help me be more focused and on task.

Also in regards to the gym thing, I'm trying to start that myself because I read somewhere a while ago that a healthy body = healthy mind so while being fit is a good thing on its own, having the academic boost would definitely be great too

Once again thanks a lot for the sample you gave me, I really appreciate it :)

I use iCalendar, which comes on Macs / iOS. You can also just use Google Calendar if you don't have a Mac.
