ssava041
I was wondering if there is anyone is whose currently doing PT at Queen's. I wanted to know what you like about the program and how is your experience going. Any special placements that you recommend. How was the teaching? Just curious about the program ! NewbiePT99
Did everyone get the email today from Queens regarding the MScPT Scholarship?
PTtoBe
I did. I was looking up previous posts and people seemed to think if you received the email that you had a better chance of being admitted. Is it true you think?

NewbiePT99
I did. I was looking up previous posts and people seemed to think if you received the email that you had a better chance of being admitted. Is it true you think? I'm not sure. I'm assuming they would have to send these emails to everyone so that they're not releasing admissions results before May 19th, but the email said that "your application is under current consideration" - They likely have made their decisions by now, so why send this to someone who would receive a rejection? I may just be overthinking it - this 5 month wait has been getting to me.
PTwinterlo
I didn't get the email. I got their first one a couple months ago about the gpa cut-off but nothing yesterday. I'm thinking that's bad news for me. Slightly heartbreaking as my gf just matched to queens for her family medicine residency

NewbiePT99
Maybe the email is only sent out to people who stated that they were born outside of Canada on their ORPAS personal information page? maybe..?
PTtoBe
Maybe the email is only sent out to people who stated that they were born outside of Canada on their ORPAS personal information page? maybe..? Nope. I was born in Canada. PTapplicant2017
Perhaps they have sent it to people that are accepted and on wait list? I have absolutely no idea though. For those that didn't get one, I wouldn't worry too much because this email doesn't guarantee anyone's acceptance...
NorthernOntarioGal
Nope. I was born in Canada. Look at the old posts http://forums.premed101.com/index.php?/topic/84331-queens-email/page-2?hl=%20queens%20%20scholarship I didn't get the email and I really wish I hadn't seen this thread. I should probably stay off here from now on. Anyways, someone in this thread said they heard of people getting into Queen's that didn't get the email, but regardless it's gonna take a few days to bring my new-found anxiety level back down to normal.. or as normal as they can be during this month. PTWorld
Congrats to those that have received the email! I have not received the email and it looks like I only got 1 more school left to see if I get into a PT program this September. Although I know one person who is a 1st year Queen's PT student who didn't receive this email, he is a varsity player and that may have helped in some way? (I heard Queen's favours varsity athletes). Anywho, just wanted to provide this insight.
NorthernOntarioGal
I'm wondering if only the people that actually got accepted are eligible for the scholarship, and the people that are waitlisted aren't? That would explain how people still make it in without receiving this email, since a decent chunk of people get in off the waitlist. It's also hard to make any guesses when we don't know the proportion of people applying to these schools that are on this website. If <10 people report getting the email, and they accept 75, that's a very small sample size. Either that, or they've only decided on the top 50 people or so and the rest still aren't firm. Maybe they send out the emails just to get the ball rolling on applications, since I presume that those that get accepted would still be able to apply for it after they are actually accepted. To those that got the email, does it give you a link or is it the application itself, to make it so you wouldn't be able to apply without actually having the email? Hopefully I'm done speculating on this but likely not.

I feel like they should have sent this email out immediatly after May19th. We're all already stressed enough

PTwinterlo
So after last night's moment of panic I got in touch with a current queen's pt student I know. I asked him about the email and he didn't receive it but was accepted 2 yrs ago (not from waitlist). I guess it's a good indicator for those of you who received the email (congrats!) but not necessarily the end of the line for those of us who didn't. QPT2019
I also got the email yesterday. Are there any cases in the past where an individual got the email and didn't get into Queen's PT? This simple email has given me extra anxiety haha
PTtoBe
Not that I've heard of. Hypothetically if someone did get this scholarship and they decided to not attend queens and go to another school would that be crazy? I also got the email yesterday. Sandmans
I am assuming that scholarship may be for people who didn't choose english as their first language in the personal information on orpas? or Canada as their country of citizenship? I don't see how else they can make a decision on who qualifies for the scholarship and who doesn't.

The scholarship is for everyone - successful candiadate is chosen based on academic performance and communication skills. it's just that preference is giving to those born to immigrant parents and/or those living in rural Canada I chose English as my first language
PTwinterlo
Hm so now I'm hopeful they sent the email to people with the highest gpa's? Haha looking for any reason to hope since I know I'm on the lower end of sub-gpa (scraped interviews with Mac and u of t with 3.82)

Haha looking for any reason to hope since I know I'm on the lower end of sub-gpa (scraped interviews with Mac and u of t with 3.82) My citizenship is Canadian (I have no foreign background, however I do have a rural background) and English is my first language, so it isn't that. I also don't think it is sent to those with highest gpas as I just missed the cut-off for McMaster interview invites. It seems like Queen's tends to weigh references, personal statements and experience a bit more than other schools so I have a feeling that it may be based on some sort of criteria around that.
