Deferred Registration To Complete A Course-Based Master's

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I recently got accepted to a course-based Master's program (8-12 months), and it's a program that I would be interested in completing even if I am fortunate enough to be accepted to medical school.

I know that Queen's grants deferrals to students "wishing to complete the requirements for their undergraduate or graduate degree." Does it mean that students will be allowed to start a one-year Master's degree as well?

Other schools are a bit more vague (they usually specify "exceptional reasons"). Does anyone know what each school's policy is regarding deferred registration for starting a course-based Master's?

Thanks in advance. :)

You have to contact each school individually, because it will depend on circumstances. These policies are usually for people finishing research degrees so may not apply to course based programs.

particularly I would think if it hasn't been started with.

I wonder though if you can defer the masters instead - there are opportunities occasionally to do say masters in medical school.

I think you can defer your start date for medical school - my friend went to England to do a PhD and deferred his medical school at Western start date by 4 years! they were ok with it

thing is I wouldn't count on that happening. I mean of course you can try - I have seen them flat out turn it down as well.

Wow 4 years - I'm surprised!
