Chances For Next Year?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

What do you think are my chances for next year's application cycle if I have a wGPA of 3.91? I have decent extracurriculars + volunteering/research. I got an interview at mcgill this year but was refused post interview unfortunately.

Should I apply into the french stream or english stream?

Thanks!

Definitely apply. With a good CASPer, you definitely have a chance at interviewing. I interviewed at Ottawa with a 3.92, so you're not far off assuming your ECs are good. About the two streams, the French stream has a lower gpa requirement, but there are fewer spots, so there are pros and cons. Also, I would only apply to the French stream if you are 100% comfortable learning in French and rotating at French speaking hospitals.

If I had an option of applying to French stream, I would definitely apply to that one. However, your wGPA is great for English stream as well. One of my friends I prepared CASPer with had a 3.90 wGPA and got an interview. CASPer has been a game changer this year! GOOD LUCK, definitely apply!

Your wGPA is competitive at Ottawa U... ESPECIALLY in the French stream. So, if you are comfortable in French ( the interview is exclusively in French - with a couple of english questions if you state you're bilingual in your application), then I say go for it. Just so you know, once you apply to one stream, that's it, you can't switch. Good luck!
