General Summer Prep? (Books, Resources Etc.)

Recommended Posts

You absolutely don't need any books to prepare for school. I recommend you enjoy your summer and have fun. You'll have more than enough time to study when the year starts.

That being said, if you really want something to read, I generally wouldn't recommend Toronto Notes, because it's written in a lot of bullet points and you might get lost/overwhelmed with it.

Here are some resources that you could use:

Clinical skills handbook for physical exams used by pre-clerks. Just google "ascm preclerkship handbook UofT"

You could watch videos by Osmosis for physiology.

You can also find pdfs for the oxford handbook of clinical medicine or First Aid for USMLE step 1 <-- this is if you're really intense. You could also get First Aid and use it to study along with your classes, but you don't need to at all. I enjoyed it though.

Again, I would highly recommend you chill do and have fun. You only have a couple of summers left, so put them to good use :)

Thanks everyone :) I'll definitely take your advice!

good!

this comes up every year, and the conclusion of almost every single medical student and resident right down the line is the same. It is hard to express exactly how precious those few remaining blocks of time you have left (there are exactly 4 including this summer, and only 2 of those you can say you have exactly no particular other task you could be doing - this summer for you happens to be the longest one of those).

Don't waste them :)
