coolboi99
I'm determining if its worth reapplying this year. I was not offered an interview in the 2016/2017 application cycle although my GPA and ECs were quite high. I lived in rural NS most of my life. I think that rural context may have been low as most towns in Nova Scotia have a stronger Metropolitan Influenced Zone (MIZ). I'm assuming NOSM uses the MIZ map/statistics provided by Statistics Canada to calculated a rural context score. If you are or know someone who has been accepted from Nova Scotia please let me know. Cheers!
Meridian
Statistics are overwhelmingly (89%) applicants from Northern Ontario. The other 7 applicants were all from "rural/remote" locations in Canada. If you have Aboriginal or Bilingual / Francophone background that may assist your application. I would guess it may depend on what you mean by rural Nova Scotia. If you are within an hour of a larger center with a hospital I doubt that is what they are aiming at. http://www.nosm.ca/education/ume/general.aspx?id=1248
s2MD
It's possible but I don't think it's happened at NOSM in the past 3 years. I could be wrong though?
