  1. Here's the realistic picture most med schools don't consider summer/spring courses. your GPA will eliminate you at almost all schools. U of C you might have a chance. U of A and OOP schools, you need to hope for a miracle. But if you get good grades for the next 2 years then you got a good chance. The startup is a cool gimmick and will definitely get you some points but it's not enough. GPA is holding you back.
  2. One way is to spend a couple hours reading all the application manuals for each school and looking at their accepted stats. Of course this forum is a goldmine and you can find posts where ppl have spent a ton of time figuring this stuff out. Generally Mac/U of C are seen as the more non-trad schools, but every person is different as to which school they stand a better chance with. For you its U of C (I forgot how important GPA is for Mac, you should check it out). I don't think you have a good chance at any other school (unless you are IP for Quebec, Dal, Memorial, or you are an American or have lived in Northern Ontario or are a SWOMEN). Just focus on your MCAT for now then tell us your score when you're done. Worry about the rest later. You got a chance, it's just a bit harder than usual that's all.
  3. Realistically with last 2 years at 3.6 you have almost (if you got spare cash I'd still chance it if I were you, some chick got in with 3.6 back in 2010 I think) no chance at UofA. UofA is known to be a GPA school. You should be ok for UofC if your MCAT is good (balanced score), gun for that 11VR bro (or bro-ette) it'll help you out a lot. Getting high scores on the BS and PS should soften the blow from your GPA via subjective assessment score. If and when you get interviews, practice for it. Even if you have a ton of experience with interviews MMI is a different beast. To answer your question: No for UofA, yes for UofC. If you're going to keep trying for more than 2 application cycles, I would recommend you find a way to do 2 more years of undergrad so you can jack up your GPA, which is really the only thing holding you back atm. If you do decide on this, scale back on your ECs (you have a ton of high quality ones already) and focus on GPA (but remember to chill out or you'll burn out)
  4. And now Calgary is starting their fresh out of diapers program as well. Soon we'll be just like the MBBS's.
  5. Are you GPA done using the OMSAS conversion (A=3.9)? If you are, you're looking alright for Ontario schools. Are you IP for Dal? If you are you got a really good chance.
  6. How do you get 8.5VR and 11.5BS? Has there been a change in scoring with the new mcat?
  7. UofA you might have a chance. MCAT tends to be quite high for OOPs (but I do know one OOP who has a low mcat and got in). Queens is a lottery. Western just check cut offs and if you make it then guaranteed interview. UT it all depends on your essays but you got a solid chance. UBC it depends on how you write your ECs, NAQ now trumps AQ due to the formula change last year. And I forgot if UBC had a weighting formula or not. For UofC anyone has a chance, the problem is how you write your top10.
  8. No chance at U of A or U of C unfortunately. U of C has 3.8 cut off and U of A OOPs usually have ~4.00. Become IP for AB and you'll have a chance for U of C if your ECs r good but still very slim chance for U of A even as IP. And UBC you might have a chance if you're ECs are really good. The formula changed this year and there's more emphasis on NAQ. You're GPA will pull you down and make it tougher for you to get an interview so don't expect too much. I think the ontario schools are your best chance at this point. If you get 36+ on MCAT, apply Sask and Manitoba.
