  1. your gpa is near the 'cut-off' but it is still a bit low. However, I think your grades are still good enough that you shouldn't waste your time doing a fifth year. There are 1 year masters programs out there so I'd suggest you do a masters. You can develop much more critical thinking skills that will help you in the long way (compared to undegrad), and of course schools acknowledge that by giving you extra points. Plus, you'll be making some money to get by which is definitely helpful.
  2. lets not feed the trolls no more. we all know in terms of gpa cut-off dent is at least on par (or higher for some schools) with med. We also know that it depends on the preference of an individual to choose dentistry over medicine. The field of medicine is diverse- you can try out bunch of stuff and apply for something you like later during match. The field of dentistry is restricted to surgery. Don't go into dentistry if you don't have manual dexterity. I like working with my hands so I didn't see the point of going to med school and do 4-5 years extra to become a surgeon of some sort.....
  3. thanks so much guys but it looks like I'm going to stay in bayfield... any other med/dent students who's going to live in bayfield?
  4. cool! where is this place? and is it open to med and dental students 24 hrs?
  5. Hi guys, I am not from london and I have a few questions about the school- do you guys have 24 hr library service? If not, are there other quiet places where you can study?? Also, how convenient is bayfield appartments aside from the fact that its 5 min walk from DSB? is it quiet and worth 800 dollars + for rent?? Please UWOers I need your inputs! thanks so much:D
  6. thanks so much for your replies!! just a few more questions about UWO since I dont know anything about that school- do you guys have 24 hr library service? If not, are there other quiet places where you can study?? Also, how convenient is bayfield appartments aside from the fact that its 5 min walk from DSB? is it quiet and worth 800 dollars + for rent?? Please UWOers I need your inputs!
  7. what?? masters students get .2 boost??
  8. Thanks for your suggestions but I think air uses flash drive and for pro you have the option to choose SSD over a normal hard drive. Can you tell me which one lasted longer in terms of battery life after a full charge?? Thanks!!
  9. GPA stat for UT could have been skewed since they accepted 22 students with Masters. I'm not saying that all masters students have lower undergrad gpa but from looking at stats from other schools, I think we can make an assumption that masters students undegrad gpa could have brought down the mean.
  10. Hi guys, I am going to be attending UWO this september and I am thinking of buying a new laptop. Right now I am deciding between mac pro and mac air. For those who are attending western, did you need to use cd drive? For a course I took in undergrad I had to purchase a program on a cd so I'm wondering if I can get by with a laptop (macair or ultrabook) without a cd drive. Thnks!
  11. For medicine and even more so for dentistry nowadays, GPA IS KING. Having a backup is a good idea, only if you can manage to keep your GPA high. just sayin
