  1. Accepted! BSc conferred GPA: 3.61 MCAT: 523 ECs: Above avg. PM for details interview: 6/8 I felt amazing. Two of them I thought I imploded.
  2. ACCEPTED. I'm so happy! MCAT: 523 (130 CARS) wGPA:3.71 ECs: I'd say above average. PM if you want more info (international sports, research, academic awards) <--Only got the chance to do these because I've been rejected so many times lol. Interview: Thought it went really well, and only started to doubt myself this past week. Gotta say I was a huge fan of the new format compared to the previous year's, although that's clear bias from me.
  3. I agree that it's not very productive of pathoma to keep asking these questions - he/she should save it for if she gets accepted. But you can't fault someone for asking for reassurance (even if it's for some extremely exploratory thinking). I'm sure the people posting "My 1st year GPA is only 3.75, am I screwed for ever?" freak people out too all the time. Pathoma, you seem a bit anxious, but I don't think you're trying to discourage anyone. edit: unless Pathoma is troll. Then please stop. Otherwise feel free to message me if you want to vent privately so the public convo doesn't continue to stress others out. I'm a 3 time rejectee so I can handle the stress, if not the wait.
  4. Pretty sure if Dr. Walker took one look at this thread this is what he'd think. edit: because Frozen is stuck in my head too. Thanks bearpuppy
  5. Hey pathoma, Try to relax dude/friend. I know that's the most aggravating thing to hear, but you can't really do anything about it until later. Here's is the common-sense approach we used at one of my old jobs, where I was involved in the hiring process: I only did my random phone calls to verifiers/referees of people who did well at the interview. No way did we bother calling referees of applicants who didn't impress us at the interview and weren't getting hired. Where's the bang in your buck for that? But, we had a lot of prospective hires, so no way did we call each and every single referee. That's the way I think of it and it lets me relax about the whole thing. Note that I have never been on a Canadian medical school admissions committee so there's tons I don't know, and that also helps me relax about who's getting verifier calls or not. The wait, on the other hand, is killing me.
  6. I have another question. At U of A we were told that they have 24/7 access to the anatomy lab. From the tour after the interview, I think I remember hearing that this isn't the case at U of C, correct? What are the available hours like? I ask because I taught anatomy in labs for a few years and am really hoping to help others (I sometimes wonder if I should become an anatomy prof lol), especially those who want more in depth anatomy stuff beyond the basics.
  7. There was something one applicant said today during the afternoon Q & A session that threw me off. This applicant said that one of the interviewer's told each applicant that they would be giving all of them full marks for one particular station. The reason was because the interviewer thought that the question was inappropriate and thus invalid. The interviewer was going to contest the question but in the meantime just gave every applicant on that track full marks for that station. Is there anyone here who was on that particular track and can comment a little more on what the interviewer said exactly? (Not looking for specifics of the station, just want a better idea of what happened.)
  8. ^ This right here. Made the difference between my first and second application. The Top 10 requires a laser-like precision regarding what it conveys.
  9. Result: Invite GPA: 3.5x-3.6x or MCAT: 523 ECs: International levels sports, research, tutoring with low SES high school students, taught in a Faculty of Medicine in Canada, major academic awards last year, then your generic stuff like student societies, etc. Year: UG done, 2nd year of Medical School abroad (I know, I know) Geography: IP, multiple year applicant The process is really geared for two kinds people: those who hit the ground running from day 1 in their undergrad....and those who persist (and those whose circumstances allow them to persist). Good luck to everyone!
  10. TIME STAMP: 11:22AM Interview Date: TBD (opens Feb 5th) Result: Invite wGPA: 3.61 MCAT: 11/11/13 ECs: International/National/Provincial Level Sports for 8+ years, 2 summers research, co-founded a Think Tank for young professionals, volunteering, anatomy teacher, etc. Year: UG + Currently studying medicine in Ireland Geography : IP EDIT: Third time's a charm; here's to hoping this isn't a mistake on their part!
  11. IIRC, last year they psyched out the applicants, who ended up having to wait almost a week after the planned release date. I'm not even trolling
