  1. We're probably the only two on here who could have a legitimate duel.
  2. You have had A LOT of learning experiences then eh Jaybird?
  3. If you are from NO and have a 3.5, there is an ok chance you will get an interview invite. I know a couple of people who interviewed last year with a 3.5. Do note that for an ultimate offer the mountain is very very high with that GPA.
  4. I've banked with TD all my life, set up my LOC last week with RBC. RBC had a tonne of incentives for my med school, beyond those on their website, so ask! (TD told me their interest rate was prime+1 and weren't willing to change it to be competitive, happened at two branches in different cities so I went elsewhere. Oh also they weren't willing to bump me up to an unlimited transaction account with the fees waived.) It's not/hasn't been a pain as of yet, just had to set up an account with the other institution.
  5. There are a few things in life where one should not cheap out as it influences every aspect of life: Food, Mattress and shoes. In my opinion those three things can totally change the way someone lives/feels and considering the amount of time you spend on/in each of these things they are worth investing in. I can't imagine anyone regretting buying a nice comfortable mattress or a comfortable pair of shoes. @Jaybird What happened to all the Queen's/Tri-colour stuff in your signature?
  6. Depends on the bank, some need proof of enrollment while others only need letter of acceptance then proof of enrollment come August/September. Email or call before going in so you have everything you need.
  7. I imagine the lack of specialists helps to create this issue. When a normal "banker" needs to be up on all products can only result in inconsistencies. The same sort of thing happened to me, hence I went with another bank.
  8. TIME STAMP: 3:14 Result: Accepted Program: MD GPA: 3.98 MCAT: above ECs: ok I guess Year: just finished UG Geography : non-SWOMEN Will more than likely be declining in favour of Nosm. Congrats everyone
  9. Time Stamp: XX:XX AM/PM Accepted wGPA 3.97 i think MCAT (if you want, but doesn't matter) 14/13/15 Location: IP Stream: EN ECs average Others - i will be declining in favour of NOSM
  10. Time Stamp:8:48 Accepted Gpa:3.98 ECs: Average and varied but very NO centric Trad or Non-trad?: Just finished UG Decision (will you accept your offer)?l I will be accepting, my top choice!! Oh and headed to Sudbury! I will see you all at O-Week!
  11. I have this book (given to me by a friend) and it isn't worth buying. It's all very obvious things that you could easily pick up my reading this forum or just some simple logic. Practice with friends and get comfortable thinking on your feet.
  12. very true and you made me laugh out loud with that comment, which is nice after being rejected from UofT today.
  13. Would have assumed my name was enough but I guess that's just me haha
  14. NONE! I hate the taste of coffee. Canada or Sweden? Who's your pick for the gold?
  15. Time stamp:9:58 January 23 Interview: Yes GPA:3.98 Context: from a small rural northern Ontario town ECs: Varied activites, some volunteering, many jobs (1000's of hours working) and some normal stuff. I felt my essays were very strong, worked on them for quite a while. Interview Location/Date/Time: Sudbury, March 23 Age/Non-trad: 4th year UG # of previous applications:0 Very very excited!
  16. Stats ONLY, discussion in the other thread. Interview: Yes or No GPA: OMSAS 4.0 scale Context: (Here's where you discuss your northern or rural connection) ECs: (Subjective analysis of your ECs, be specific if you want) Interview Location/Date/Time (Or include as much information as you'd like if you'd like to remain a little more anonymous): Age/Non-trad: (I like to include this because NOSM seems to attract so many non-traditional applicants) # of previous applications:
  17. With the advent of overnight shipping and online shopping, there isn't much that a city has over a small town. Not to mention I can walk through town on my way to the bush/lake with a fishing rod or shotgun and no one bats an eye, can't do that in a city haha oh how different it is.
  18. In all honesty I am now rethinking my "ranking" order of schools. i personally still think NOSM ranks # 1 in my books as of now. Also note that I'm ready to head back to a smaller city, been in Montreal for four years. It's been an amazing learning experience but not for me in the long run. I think I'd be much happier in a smaller center like Kingston or Sudbury/Thunder Bay, somewhat more like the tiny hometown I'm from.
  19. Sorry for such the late post ( lots of schools stuff to figure out at the moment) Invite OOP GPA(x.xx/4.5): 4.0/4.5 with drops (McGill doesn't have A+ or percentage so we get screwed, 4.0 is the highest we can achieve) MCAT (xx.xx/15): 14/15 ( 14,13,15) Rural (Northern Ontario) Depending how the Ontario schools go for me I will most likely decline due to financial considerations. (Have to pay for everything myself so I'll be limiting the cost/chance of acceptance ratio)
  20. half course is a one semester course. OMSAS 0.5 credits or at a 30 credit school worth 3 credits (or more/less if your at McGill)
  21. unless he took 28 credits in which case he's ok
  22. Could have always shot off an email to schools or called OMSAS.
  23. No offence but I think it's rather clear. I guess you'll just have to wait till January/February/March to find out.
