  1. Can any 4th year medical students or residents tell me: Which Canadian medical schools (out of UofT, McMaster, UBC, Western, and Queens) prepares its students best for CARMS? I know that there is no way I'll get an objective answer, but what is the reputation of each school among medical students and residents? E.g. I've heard that Western and Queens prepares its students better for electives because of clinical exposure and that at schools like UofT, you will get to see complicated cases, but overall in terms of clinical learning, you won't get as much exposure simply because you don't get as much responsibility (too many residents / fellows / clerks at Toronto hospitals). To what extent is this true? Thanks a lot!
  2. Time Stamp: March 1, 2016 - 1pm Interview date: March 12, 2016 Result: Invite!! wGPA: 3.98 (not eligible for weighting) MCAT (old): 12/11/12 ECs: various leadership roles on campus, 2 yrs of research (NSERC), accomplishments in music, sports. I'd say, pretty strong ECs in general. Year: graduated B.Sc. Geography: IP Essays: Wrote them a week before deadline, didn't have time to ask anyone else to read them. Thought they were poor or mediocre at best. So shocked! I had given up hope on UofT because I thought my essays were weak, plus the March batch had gone out more than a week ago. Very very happy about this one
  3. Hi, I need to move my Queens interview from April 2 to April 3 because I have another interview on April 2 now, which is not possible to change without conflicting with other interviews. I've called Queens admissions, but I was told that I need to find someone willing to trade times with me. Please let me know if you are interested in changing your April 3rd timeslot to an 11am timeslot on Saturday, April 2. Cheers.
  4. Does anyone have interview on April 3rd? Or are they only doing April 2 and April 10?
  5. I studied for ~3 weeks, took the November DAT. Scored 25 AA 25 PAT. Keep in mind I had a life science background for undergrad (Biochemistry) but that was kind of rushed, I wished I studied for closer to a month or 1.5 month. I used Crack the DAT PAT, Kaplan Blue Book for bio and chem, cliffs ap for bio for some sections. Also bought DAT destroyer but only went through a few pages (it's not completely necessary). PM me if you want some tips on studying for DAT.
  6. Thanks Gohan. Yeah, I would be living at home and paying no rent if I'm commuting 1h... it still likes a significant time investment though, which I'm not sure if it's worth, since I lived close to campus in another city for undergrad. Also, I looked at some of the residences - like Marine Drive and Ponderosa, which seem quite nice, seem to be populated mostly by undergrads. Are you familiar with St. John's College or Green College? It says that they're for graduate students, but does that include medical students, or only masters/PhD students.
  7. Any med students who commute longer than 1h here? Do you think a 1h commute to school worth the money you save? Also does anyone have a house in Vancouver (e.g. Richmond, Vancouver East, Burnaby) but has chosen to live on residence or rented an apartment near UBC campus regardless? I'm just planning ahead...
  8. Thanks Dassy, Okay I understand - I'll likely just try to drink lots of fluid and rest up this week then.
  9. Hi, Has anyone ever rescheduled Queens interview due to being really sick with a cold/flu? Please let me know - my interview's on Mar28th, but I'm so sick right now that I'm losing my voice. CHeers.
