  1. Thanks Belle_MD! That really clarifies it - Im relieved my understanding of the process was right. Will submit my app today
  2. Hey guys - thanks for the info. Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm very interested in the MD/PhD program as I have a strong research background - 3 pubs (one major first author), multiple conference presentations, so I want to continue into graduate education in some capacity down the line, which is why I'm choosing for that stream. However, I would imagine these are very very competitive seats to fill - so in case I'm unsuccessful as an MD/PhD candidate (don't get ranked in their list/never receive an interview), I'm just wondering if that means my application is thrown out before being considered for the MD program also? Any further information will be much appreciated. Especially from someone doing MD/PhD, if possible.
  3. I've been prepping my MD/PhD application for submission. However, I have a question come up the last few days - does my application to the MD/PhD program interfere with my MD application? It has always been my understanding that by expressing interest in the MD/PhD program (and therefore applying), I am applying to both the MD and MD/PhD program. Is this wrong? I was just re-reading Chantal's email to finalize my application and this kept coming up in my mind. Any clarification would be appreciated!
  4. God that was brutal... noting in Doing right preps you for that.. I felt like i had no time to communicate my reasons, the questions were so weird!!!! oh wells, january it is...
  5. I'm sorry if this has been mentioned before. A few people have mentioned to write in bullet points/incomplete sentences. Is this ok? I would greatly appreciate feedback, I couldn't find any specific information online.
  6. I have the exact same situation, and I'm still applying. I'm giving it a shot, because nothing official is published (like uoft), so might as well try. Just my two cents.
  7. Unfortunately, manuscript was submitted after I graduated - my PI's vision kept evolving and unfortunately the submission date kept getting pushed back for this reason.
  8. Hi everyone, I've been working on a manuscript since second semester of 4th year, following which I took a gap year to work and just started a one-year MSc. Well, that manuscript finally got accepted for publication last week at a high-impact journal in my field - after months of going back and forth with my PI, discussions for improvement and revisions from the journal. The research in the paper - its all based on my work their during undergrad (summer after 3rd year, all of 4th year), so does this qualify for the Ottawa "during undergrad" requirement? It's ok to write "3rd, 4th year of university" in the "Level of Education" section in OMSAS? Any input is greatly appreciated!
  9. Seriously, this should have been emphasized on their admissions website - since its such a significant change. I just caught it today in the FAQ and rushed all my referees politely..
  10. This is from the UofT med FAQ: If a letter arrives at OMSAS on Octover 2nd is it okay? It is only one day after the deadline. Any materials submitted after the October 1st, 2015 deadline will be considered late, and the application will be marked as incomplete and will not proceed to file review.
  11. I didn't know this? How far after the submission date can they arrive? I'm presently stressing over my MD/PhD letters not being ready in time (referees are being surprisingly non-communicative, perhaps beginning of school year) - so this would be a big relief.
  12. Hi there, This seems really stupid to ask - but I couldn't find this information anywhere? It say on the UofT MD/PhD website that they should be submitted by Oct 1 - but on OMSAS, its only allowing me to enter information for my three traditional referees. How does it work? Absolutely any input would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Congrats student_8! Thanks for the motivating post. Anyone have any insight into how much more movement we should realistically expect? I'm still waiting and have a low wGPA of 3.913. I don't think there's much of a chance me for me now, but would appreciate any information from current/past waitlisters?
  14. Thanks for getting back to me! i meant: what Ottawa stream were you in?
