  1. Hello everyone, I wasn't sure what to include in this section. I was thinking of outlining the CanMEDS competencies for my references, but I was wondering if that would be more appropriate in a separate email. Let me know what you think! Thanks.
  2. All of my references are faculty members at my institution. My problem is that the OMSAS application does not provide room to put extension numbers. Would the phone number of the institution without extension allow for medical schools to contact them via phone? I know that University of Saskatchewan's medical school requires references to be available for phone calls, but I'm not sure if the same may apply to some Ontario schools. NOTE: I haven't started my University of Sask application but if anyone knows if they provide room to put the extension number, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hey all, I was hoping to get some advice on how to contact my desired references for this upcoming application cycle. I was planning on providing them with the basics - my resume/CV & transcript. My uncertainty lies in providing guidelines for the reference letter, more specifically, UofT's four clusters (professional, communicator, advocate, scholar). I wanted to know if there is any disadvantage to having my reference letters more geared towards UofT's guidelines. I know that the four clusters can apply in general to all medical schools, but I feel that my interest in UofT might be made more clear if the four clusters were strictly outlined in the reference letters. Should I leave the direction of my reference letters solely in the hands of my referees? Or should I provide them with these guidelines? Please share your thoughts! Thanks in advance.
  4. Thoughts on EN 1953 Canadian Writers in Person? Or are there any other english courses people could recommend? Thanks
  5. Studying off EK for my MCAT in August. The experience has so far been lackluster. Atrocious figures, typos and grammar errors left, right and center. That is all
  6. Completely agree that I am 100% at fault. I was just so relieved once I submitted the application that I neglected the payment process. Sorry for the sarcasm, it is an insult directed to myself if anything.
  7. Thanks for the help guys. My application won't be processed.
  8. Hello everyone, Did anyone else choose the online banking option to pay for the application fees? I'm not sure how to proceed after they provide this information: Account number: Creditor name: Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC) Amount to be paid: CAN$332.00 I am purposely posting with the account number blank for obvious reasons, but is there something else I should be doing? I checked my account via e-banking and the money hasn't been taken out of my account yet. It says normally rakes 1-3 business days but I just wanted to make sure that I've done everything on my end. Please help! Thanks
  9. Hello all, Would it be appropriate to list achievements made by a team that you are a part of, in your award section of the ABS? For example, competing with a dance team and placing 1st/2nd/3rd. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.
  10. Hello all, I was wondering if it would be appropriate to include the amounts of money associated with an award. There are only two sections: Qualifications and Competition Involved. Not sure where I would include it besides in the title of the award. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!
  11. Here is what I will be inputting: H: PHIL 1100 The Meaning of Life - half, ECON 1000 Intro to Microeconomics - half I go to YorkU btw.
  12. Hello all, Can anyone suggest who to ask to be a verifier for university entrance scholarships? Thanks a lot
  13. Hey there! I am applying to Ottawa this cycle and my wGPA is only 3.89. You seem to have some solid research/volunteering over me so I would definitely suggest that you apply. Also, if you ask the references this year it would make it easier for when you ask again next year (assuming you don't get in). Don't skip the chance of potentially getting an interview and using that as a learning experience or even your ticket to med!
