  1. I'd suggest you to post this question on the fb group for the class of 2019. Just look up Manitoba Medicine Class of 2019 on fb and ask to join if you haven't done so already.
  2. Thanks for your reply! Did you have to send a separate notification for Canada Student Loans? I received student loans from Manitoba and I've already applied for additional loans for med school but I'm not sure whether I have to somehow inform Canada Student loans (the federal government loan rather than the provincial one).
  3. Hi everyone, I was just wondering whether the location of your med school has a huge impact on where you will do residency, and ultimately practice as a specialist. Obviously a lot of factors would have to be considered but I saw some CaRMS stats that showed 70-80% of students get matched to a program in the same province where they went to med school. Obviously, most people go to med school in their home province and therefore are more likely to stay there and I guess even during med school you become more familiar with the school and the city and that can make people want to stay. But how much impact does this really have on your chances of going to other provinces for residency? Simply put, do people mostly stay in their home province because they want to or are they at a disadvantage when applying OOP for residency? Thanks for your help.
  4. I'm sure a lot of people will be entering med school with some form of student loans. I was just wondering whether I have to continue to make payments for undergrad student loans. If not, will the time I'm going to be spending in med school going to be interest free for undergrad loans since I will be a full-time student? Do I have to inform any agency that I will be going back to school or do they somehow automatically know I'm going back to school? So many questions...I'd really appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

  6. I heard an upper year student at the interview say that something like 3/4 of the offers get sent out on May 13th. It might be completely wrong and I can't verify it so I wouldn't worry too much about it. But logically it makes sense that they would have to send out the majority on that day since the waitlist has to get going. Right after the interview I thought I did okay but for the past month or so all I could think about was what I did wrong during the interview. I'm really looking forward to the end of this long wait one way or the other.
  7. I wasn't able to attend the information session for MMI and they haven't uploaded the video yet. For those who attended, can anyone please tell me if the format of the MMI will the same as last year's which consisted of 1 rest station, 1 written station and 10 normal MMI stations (No acting, role playing, picture, cooperating with another interviewee stations)? Thanks!
