  1. Hey all! Future Uof C resident here. I was wondering if any current residents in Alberta can speak to the net income we get after taxes and how the call stipends work in terms of payment. I don't mean how much we get back in tax credits and all of that, I mean more on a month-month basis

So many questions - AB resident

Didn’t need the criticisms guys. Thanks for your “help”. May wanna think about how you speak to people on the internet.

So many questions - AB resident

Thanks! I do not know which tax credits you're referring to, though. And do you have to pay taxes all year and then get a lump sum back from all the credits? I literally have no idea how any of this works.
  4. I was matched to U Calgary for residency, and I have some questions re: finances 1. What are these tax credits people are talking about? I know that there are tuition tax credits and stuff like that, but I am unsure of how this carries into residency. 2. are call stipend fees taxed? 3. Can any Alberta residents weigh in on finances/what they manage to live off of in PGY-1?

  10. Hi all, I unfortunately was not able to complete my MSc degree before beginning medical school. As CaRMS is upon me, I am beginning to worry how much this will affect my application. I would like to know if anyone else is in this position, and if they have received any advice from reputable and reliable people who can attest to how to handle this type of situation, and if residency PDs will be picky about this. Would also LOVE to hear from any past successful CaRMS applicants who have been in my position. Thanks!

    Osap - Confused

Great, thanks very much Dark Knight!
  12. Hi everyone, I was approved for OSAP funding, and as part of my conditions of my approval, the website states that my school (McMaster) has to confirm my enrollment, I have to provide supporting documents, and I have to review my CRA income report. 1. Does the school automatically confirm enrollment? 2.I already mailed in my MFSAA, and sent the signature/declaration page to the financial aid office to my institution. 3. No idea how to review my CRA statement. Can anyone offer any insight? Do I basically have the funding and this is all just a formality to get through, or is there a risk that I won't get it still?

    2015 Backpack Colour Voting

I just feel lucky enough to have been admitted to a Canadian medical school; the backpacks can be puke green for all I care, I will wear it with pride!

    Getting Into Med School?

CASPer is key. I got an interview with a lower VR scoore (10) and I know it's because I did well on CASPer. So even if you do get a 10 in VR as opposed to the highly coveted 11-12, don't give up.
