  1. So for the first two years of school, I know we have classes from August/September until Winter break, and then January until March break and March break until May. I was wondering around what time in May classes/exams wrap up? i.e. near the start or near the end? Any info would be appreciated!! Thanks
  2. I had one more question- during the summers, are you expected to hold a job related to medicine or research? I have THE best summer job ever (working as a canoe guide in the far north) and would love to continue it through med school (for at least part of each summer). Do you think this would be a possibility, or is there a real expectation to pursue medical interests each summer? So far I think I'm wanting family medicine or psychiatry, and those are slightly less competitive than others, so would this influence your answer (for matching in CaRMS)?
  3. Hi bozo22, I sent you a private message, but... I have this book: "Medical School Interviews: a Practical Guide to Help You Get That Place at Medical School" by George Lee and Olivier Picard, 2013 edition and I'm looking to sell! I live in Toronto so if you want to buy it let me know! I found it very helpful when prepping for my MMIs got into Calgary so I'm happy to say I don't need it anymore! Would like to pass on the good karma
  4. Also I would have to say that Doing Right is worth every penny you will spend on it. I love it and am not selling my copy because I hope to keep it and refer to it throughout my career! This MMI book (the one I've posted about above) is extremely useful in terms of prep, but Doing Right is amazing and explaining medical ethics and I would say that it should be your first purchase. The MMI practice book is great for familiarizing yourself with the kinds of question they'll ask, so I did think it was worth my money

  7. I was wondering about tuition for Queen's! I found this online: http://www.queensu.ca/registrar/sites/webpublish.queensu.ca.uregwww/files/files/Tuition_2014_2015_UG_Domestic.pdf So is it around $25,000 per year of study? It says "per term" which is confusing me, as I'm not sure if they count a term as September through May or as September through December, etc. Any info would be much appreciated!
  8. I was wondering about the LMCC pass rates for Calgary! Was having trouble finding a breakdown by school. Does anyone have any info on this?
  9. Can anyone verify if the below is true?? Very curious! - if you accept any of your Ontario offers, you will be automatically withdrawn from all other acceptance/waitlist offers from other Ontario schools - if you accept any other offers (UBC, Calgary, etc) you can remain on the waitlist for your Ontario schools but you need to start paying the deposit (around $1000) - if you accept Ontario offer but want to remain on waitlist for OOP schools, again, you can remain on the waitlist but you still have to pay the non-refundable deposits .
  10. If it makes anyone feel better, I had initially accepted my offer for interview at McMaster and for the CAP at UofT, but I will be calling them to cancel as I got accepted into my top choice of programs! So that will open up spots for some of you on the wait list :) GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!! You can do it!
