  1. The OTPDC has set up a Facebook page for incoming students to the Occupational Therapy program at the University of Alberta to receive social updates, ask questions about the program, find housing options, and begin to communicate with their soon-to-be classmates! Students can either search "U of A Occupational Therapy Class of 2018" on Facebook, or follow this link: https://www.facebook...10063819013155/ Congratulations to all, and welcome to the program!

  3. No it does not mean you have been rejected. If you have been rejected I am pretty sure you would receive a letter/email stating so.
  4. Hi there, I'm finishing my first year of OT at UofA. This status will take months to change so do not stress about that whatsoever!
  5. Hi there! I am currently a first year Ot student at the University of Alberta. Yes, the format is completely up to you! Mine was size 11, regular margins, times new romans, single spaced, about 1.5 pages. Just be thoughtful of how much the panel will be reading and not to go over board with the flexibility of the format. Hope that helps!
  6. Got my official letter (email) from the Faculty of Graduate Studies and my beartracks has finally changed from 'pending application' to 'accepted'! I know we are not supposed to register in any classes yet, so I started making a draft schedule and it appears we have 6 classes and 3 labs the first semester (granted, this could be wrong since we haven't be told the exact classes we need, I was going off of what the school website said). The classes look awesome though, I'm so excited!
  7. Hey guys, I just declined my Queen's OT acceptance, so a spot will be opening up:) I'm off to UofA!
  8. Hey guys! Let's all join the facebook group that the current OT students have created for us:)
  9. Applied: UBC, UofA, Western, Toronto, Queens (all OT) Accepted: UofA, Queens Rejected: Toronto, Western Wait Listed: UBC GPA: 85% Strengths: Very strong essays/personal statements. I have extensive course work, volunteer work of all populations, especially with the Special Olympics, Brain Injuries, a Practicum Student with various OTs and research in Occupational Therapy, so I'm sure that was a large contributing factor. My references are also very strong: an OT and a professor that I did OT research with, who also used to be an OT professor at Western. I will be accepting UofA, so the UBC waitlist will be getting shorter as well as a seat will be opening at Queens OT:) I am so excited to become an Occupational Therapist and I wish everyone the same luck I have had. Everyone on these forums seems genuinely passionate about the ultimate goal of helping others in our careers, and I am proud to be part of such a great group of hard working and caring future healthcare professionals. We're going to change the face of healthcare as we know it, so get excited!!!!
  10. For OT, are the acceptances being sent via email, or are they shown on the ORPAS website?
  11. Applied: UBC, UofA, Western, Toronto, McMaster, Queens (all OT) Accepted: UofA Rejected: Wait Listed: UBC GPA: 3.7 Strengths: Very strong essays/personal statements. I have extensive course work, volunteer work and research in Occupational Therapy, so I'm sure that was a large contributing factor. My references are also very strong: an OT and a professor that I did OT research, who also used to be an OT professor at Western. 12. Got my letter in the mail today too!! I'm from Northern BC, so what that basically means is that everyone else in BC should also be getting one today:)
  13. Has anyone's bear tracks or application centre been updated to say 'accepted' instead of pending or submitted?
  14. I believe all offers say that. Once you are accepted, if you would like to attend the Calgary Cohort you need to apply for that separately. Therefore, they put the application form for the Calgary Cohort in everyone's offer package:)
  15. Oh wow that is awesome, thank you! I will delete the old one to avoid confusion.
