  1. Nah, this isn't really true. Pretty similar experience for both schools. At the end of the day, both schools pale in comparison to American schools when it comes to clinical experience. Just choose the school you like more if you have the choice.
  2. E.g. 6 out of the 10 courses in 3rd year must be 3rd (or 4th) year level courses.
  3. I had this exact same thought a few years ago when I was dealing with the unfairness of the DAT scaling, but it wasn't this bad... I hope you guys can finally get CDA to change it, because that "scale" actually makes no sense and gives such an unfair disadvantage to certain applicants.
  4. You should definitely get an interview. Your dad being an alumnus isn't relevant, though maybe you could mention that during your interview if it comes up.
  5. Study really hard the next two years to earn a shot at Western. For ECs, do things you enjoy, volunteer, shadow. Be well-rounded.
  6. I can confirm there's been waitlist movement, but not sure how much so far.
  7. You'd have a good chance at UWO if you did a full course load 5th year (with 3.0/5.0 courses at 3rd year level or above), especially since you'd have another year to bolster your autobiographical sketch.
  8. Don't worry, they won't call if you were accepted right away and not waitlisted.
  9. Congrats to those accepted! Here's the Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2087663754835751/
  10. I got the money just from the letter of acceptance too from Scotia in May last year. Either they changed their policies or it depends on the branch. You should mention that other branches do this and have them look into it, or contact the designated advisor that does dent LOCs and ask them about it.
  11. Maybe it had to do with the new rules, like having 3.0/5.0 courses of the same year, or needing >75 in physiology/orgo/biochem?
  12. This is basically what I did and it worked really well.
  13. Some schools like Western take the most recent DAT so if Western is your top choice and your current scores aren't bad, then rewriting could potentially harm your application.
  14. I don't think there's a need to retake it. Your stats are good enough for an interview as long as your ABS is decent. DAT is the smallest part of your Western application and a February write won't affect your current application anyway.
  15. I personally found CDP pretty useless compared to Bootcamp. The Bootcamp generators are really helpful. If you're just starting out and don't want to use up all the Bootcamp resources there are cheaper options.
  16. Good enough. DAT is the smallest factor for UWO so just make sure the rest of your application is good.
  17. I don't think GPA matters as much as it did before. Everyone's going to have similar marks but it's the ABS/PS and interview that sets you apart IMO.
  18. It should be in the emails CDA sends you.
  19. Last year it was 15 (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/dentistry/docs/future_students/Class_of_2020_Statistics.pdf) so it's around the same. That was also when they introduced the ABS/PS. Before that, it was usually less than 10 (http://www.schulich.uwo.ca/dentistry/docs/future_students/Class_of_2019_Statistics.pdf).
  20. Yeah it's most recent. Also in the past the RC cutoff has been 19, which means you should probably rewrite. I'm not sure if they still have cutoffs though.
  21. According to the list of people who have paid for O-Week/UWODSS fees, there are 55 people who have committed. So either there could be one person who just doesn't want to participate, or maybe there might be one person who's still contemplating...but I think it's more likely to be the former unfortunately.
  22. It seems like they got rid of A+ which used to translate into 4.33. But the percentage grade scale seems unfair...does that mean if your school reports 89 as A (letter grade) then that counts as 4.0, but if your school reports 89 as 89% then that counts as 3.0???
  23. Retake prerequisites below 75 during the summer, and ace the next two years. The past doesn't matter.
