  1. Thank you for the response. I know that the program recommends a car, or car-pooling with other students for family practice visits...do you think it's necessary? I'm not familiar with the Vancouver area, but would like to know if using public transportation is feasible.
  2. I understand that most students stay on campus, or near campus for the first year...but is there any particular advantage to staying closer to VGH? Can anyone comment on how often one can expect to be at VGH during the 1st semester? Thank you.
  3. Not sure if this has been asked before (I apologize if so), but are lectures mandatory, and if not, are they recorded? For instance, will students at the satellite sites have access to a recording? Thank you.
  4. I was wondering if anyone can elaborate further on the pass/fail grading, as I've heard there is an internal ranking that residency programs have access to. Any information on this would be great. Thank you.
  5. For those that checked bilingual in their application, did you receive a question in French? I've spoken to friends of mine who are also bilingual and not all of us received a question in french, which makes me think that either a) the fact that an applicant is bilingual is not that important unless used for a tie-breaker of some sort, b] the panel believed it wasn't important due to already flagging that applicant, or c) there's only a limited amount of time in the interview and it's just not possible to go through everything.
  6. Thanks for the input. I wasn't planning on applying until next summer. You mentioned that I have below average stats, could you clarify about that, or let me know what the average stats are to get into a midtier MD school. I know that my MCAT is on the weaker side and my science GPA is low, but I figured thay because my GPA is being brought down by one horrendous course in 1st year, I may have a chance due to their holistic methods with file reviews. Thanks again.
  7. Would appreciate some input on my chances with a 3.75 cGPA and 127 CARS (83%). Seems like it'll likely depend on my CASPER score?
  8. I'm currently looking at back-up plans for medical school in case Canada/US does not work out; however, I've realized that I am a dual citizen (Canada and EU). As an EU citizen, if I applied to an Irish Medical school, would my fees be lower (same fees towards an EU citizen)? In addition, if I were to apply to a residency, I would be seen an equal applicant to a native born EU citizen of Ireland? If the following are true, then would it be possible (with some difficulty) to come back and practice as a physician in Canada? I'm assuming this would depend on many factors, such as the province, the residency that I specialized in, etc. If someone who is knowledgeable about the benefits of applying to Ireland Medical schools as an EU citizen, or returning to practice medicine in Canada after residency mind helping me out? I would really appreciate it. Thank you.
  9. cGPA: 3.74, very strong upward trend if that matters? VR: 11. Do I have a chance?
  10. Do you know how much they value sGPA in comparison to cGPA? Thanks for the response.
