    Queens Interview Invites/regrets 2016

THIS !! you seem like a really deserving applicant and i'm sorry that you didn't get an invite!
  3. Key word SAFE: i don't want any viruses on my computer thank you!
  4. Hi everyone! I'm just wondering how competitive or difficult it is to get into Cardiology. So far, my interests lie in diagnosing cardiac arrhythmias and i love reading ECGs! I understand some specialties are more competitive than others so where does Cardiology fall in that list? Any stats would be appreciated!

  6. This might be a really weird question but has it been done? I'm pretty sure I want to go to medical school however, in the event that I do not get in, I plan on attending law school rather than doing a masters degree like most. Is this a crazy idea that you would not recommend? Its just that I'm not particularly super interested in masters programs but in the event that med doesn't work out, I think I could do a lot with health law (i.e.: enter my first year of law and in the event that I don't like it - keep re-applying to medical school?) What do you guys think? Any thoughts/pros/cons appreciated!
  7. I'm currently in the application pool (just submitted for entry next year in most ontario schools). A lot of people are changing their Facebook names so that they are unsearchable (i.e: by admissions officers/people). I don't really have anything bad on my profile that I would think would reflect badly of me. Nevertheless - would you recommend changing it? Did you guys change it when applying to med? Why do people change it?
  8. Hi!, I'm interested in applying to these programs however I'm not sure about the difference between them. Do they all involve laboratory research, with one of them having more class time than others? In addition, what career prospects are available after an MSc? From my understanding, one would do a PhD after an MSc and go on to do research. Are there other opportunities? Has anyone had experience doing an MSc at U of T? Would you recommend it? Thank you!

What Would You Guys Recommend I Do Next Year?

Thanks so much for this!! I'm thinking my 4th year marks will boost my GPA a lot and if med schools look at your best 3 years, then my 4th year would count if i was applying as a masters student no? My rationale is that if I do a masters, it wont matter what marks I get then? (i'm not really sure how masters programs work)...
  10. I have a 3.7 GPA (OMSAS), many extracurriculars and an MCAT score of 509. Though I applied this year to some schools in Ontario, I feel like my chances of getting in are slim. What would you recommend I do next year? I'm thinking my choices are: 1) Grad school: any particular recommendations? I understand i should do what interests me, but I love physiology and public health so i'm looking at those areas. Would you recommend one over the other? 2) Another 5th year at my university (to boost my GPA?) 3) Going abroad to study medicine THANKS in advance guys - your input is appreciated!
  11. I'm a little confused on how to use the Undergraduate Conversion Table provided by OMSAS. I am applying to McGill (8 on the table) and I study at Queen's (7). How do I convert my grades to McGill grades? i.e: if I got an A- at Queen's for a half year course, what do I put down for my letter grade and course equivalent? THANKs guys!!!
  12. Hey guys! So McGill states: Successful applicants tend to have a DegGPA above 3.5 (average approximately 3.8). Applicants with a DegGPA below 3.4 are rarely considered competitive. How do I compare my GPA to a DegGPA? What is a DegGPA? How does it relate to my GPA calculated by OMSAS? I am an Ontario resident. THANKS!
  13. I have a 3.7 GPA as calculated on OMSAS and many extracurriculars - would you bother applying to McGil? I have a 509 MCAT (i know its not necessary). I am an Ontario resident. I know there are 10 spots only for out of Quebec residents. Would you recommend applying with my stats? THANKS!
  14. I'm looking at doing a Masters in Ontario - what would you recommend if I am planning on reapplying to medical school next year? Are there any stats about this? (i.e.: would medical schools prefer someone in a Master's program doing Public Health or Physiology at U of T?) THANKS guys - I really appreciate it! I would prefer to be in Toronto if that helps!
  15. I am prepping for interviews and the CASPer test - any areas I should reflect on? I understand the usual "conflict with an individual" questions but are there any other areas I can ask myself to prepare? Thanks guys!
